Old Blood Noise Dweller? Combines phaser with delay? Can do standard stuff and weird bubbly noises. I dig it.

I've messed with my new OBNE Dweller for a total or 2 hours or so, not nearly long enough to really learn what it can do for me. So far though, I like it.
I keep dialing it in for eery/dreamy delay sounds though, with stuttery phaser'd repeats.

Considering what I could buy for that money though, the way I'm using the dweller might not really justify the board space the pedal's taking.
My Nemesis is so powerfull for all kinds of shimmery post rock delay shit, with the noise and chaos of a live show I doubt anyone would really notice a difference bewteen the dweller or the closest sounding setting on the Nemesis.

So yeah, I'm not writing it off completely yet, not untill I've tested it with my band...but there's a good chance I'll be looking for a different modulation pedal soon :idk:

A Flanger Hoax popped up on my CL for cheap. It's got a fixed phase shifter and a modulated one and you can select shift degrees and lots of other weird shit. I'd pick it up if I hadn't hemorrhaged money for the past month.

Just got a MSLP Doppelganger clone, totally love it.

I'd say it's more "unconventional" than "weird." It has a square & slow switch, can switch between phase and vibe, has nice EQing options w/ the two shelving filters (I think that's what they are?), and I think it has two exp inputs for each LFO. With the dual LFO + slow switch, it can run a very long time before it repeats itself, and it sounds very lush and juicy, which is what I want (Laraaji vibes!). With square switch, it can get rhythmic in a cool way, because the second LFO will keep modulating it, but no tap tempo or step & hold.

I have the little Quasar v4, that's definitely a PH-3 on steroids. Bunch of modes, including multiple envelope and step modes. It doesn't have the PH-3's tone suck, but I also don't like its tone personally, so I've been meaning to sell it off (I don't think I've tried it on guitar, actually; been using synth). Wish I could find a big box Quasar DLX to try instead..

Whetstone is great, too -- more "chewy" than "lush," and can be very transparent if you want it to be. Massive amount of LFO EQing options, definitely its key selling point imo, along with the ~60 sec sweep. The internal gain pot gives it more tonal character, I was a little underwhelmed for the price until I cranked it up, comparing tone to my Small Stone.

Long post, wow; weird phasers are my favorite. I'm very happy with the Doppelganger & Whetstone because they both make amazing feedback loops, where most other phasers kind of squeal or woosh annoyingly.

Have a doppelganger and a small box clone that Ian/Gigahearts made me. Like it a lot. Would recommend that too any person wanting to try a "different" phaser. I was reall into the Quasar DLX when it came out. Tried it in shop and loved the functions but HATED the tonal character of it. It just sounded crap to me (FWIW I never bonded with my Prometheus DLX either for that same reason, though I love my version 1). Had a PH-3 before that and same story there. Liked the different modes but never gelled with how it sounded, though I deffo preferred it to the Quasar DLX. Ghost Fax is the way to go for even weirder imo. I don't understand half of what it does but it's just FUN to play with and sounds good too.

Not weird but gets interesting sounds imo: Boss PH-2. My fave sounding phaser though is my 90's Small Stone. I sort of wish it had more functions andhave been thinking about getting a Whetstone (which I bought when it came out but never bonded with) as I for some reason that would be the small stone with more control? I keep wishing Fuzzrocious or Smallsound/Bigsound would do a phaser as I think they'd really kill it. But yeah. That's my two cents.

Yeah, I would love to see some wilder builders tackle phasing. I guess the Feber does (pseudo?) phasing, it sounds really nice, too.

Whetstone is reportedly based on Small Stones, so yeah, that makes sense haha — I also prefer the tone on my Soviet-looking Stone to almost everything. Whetstone gets pretty close with the input gain trim pumped up, but it’s a lot more transparent, IMO.

Forgot to mention the old TC XII, definitely “unconventional,” was probably “weird” in its day: switch between 4, 8 & 12 phasing, and then there’s a knob to slide from peak to (uhh, I’m blanking on the word.. cut / trough / opposite of peak), and the two factory plugs you can put in its extra jack to change the tonal character is definitely a weird idea. I’d love an expression pedal for that if I knew how. The tonal character on the XII is really great imo, idk about the reissue though

The Empress phaser can go from conventional to very unconventional. Multiple waveforms, submodes, expression, etc.

I'm surprised the Glou Glou Pralines hasn't been mentioned. That's easily the most unconventional phaser I've ever used. It's not easy to control, but when you find something unique there's nothing else that sounds like it.

WOOOOOW! Yes Ryan!! :!!!:
I was hoping the thing Brian Cook teased would be phasy, but had given up on that as you where so secretive about it with all the guesses in the FB-group.
As far as the news letter goes I've been signed up for ages! :D So excited! The rest of you, do as he says! Sign up!

Oh btw. Can I spoil this in the Fb-group or should I keep it on the dl (as in not outside ILF)?
