Re: Cooper FX Arcades card comparisons
I've never liked the way pitch shifting sounds on FV1 circuits. That cycling microgranular thing. Was the Space Station like that?

Re: Cooper FX Arcades card comparisons
I got the Satellite card yesterday, and I'm not totally sure what I think. I've never played a real Space Station, so I don't have anything to compare this to other than Youtube videos that aren't that great. In general the sounds are in the high-pitched twinkly range, which isn't my favorite thing. It seems like different programs work better with different Clock settings--the String sound works better with the Clock turned up, the Rngmod sounds better with the clock turned down. But I haven't investigated every aspect of the card yet, of course.
In keeping with the original theme of this thread:
The String program on the Satellite card is different from the String program on the Synth card (which is described as being based on the XP-300). The Satellite version has a manual mode and a slightly different overall sound, while the Synth version has reverb.
The Warp program on the Satellite card is similar to the Envgld program on the Pitch card, but I think the pitch range is different and the overall behavior is somewhat different.
I don't have the Delay card, so I can't say whether or not the Arp program on the Satellite card is similar to the Pitch program on the Delay card (which, again, is described as being based on the XP-300). The controls are similar, but the Satellite has an Inpt control ("controls the volume of the signal going into the delay line") and the Delay has a Det control ("determines how much pitch shifting is happening").
The other Satellite programs don't seem to be comparable to anything else. The Satellite's Rngmod is totally different than the Ring mod on the LoFi card. The Satellite's Tape isn't like the Delay card's Tape, but it seems like it might be somewhat similar to the Octave program on the Reverse card (which mentions a tape stop effect). I'll do a direct comparison next time I plug in.

Re: Cooper FX Arcades card comparisons
I had a spare moment, so I was able to determine that the Octave program on the Reverse card is not similar to the Tape program on the Satellite.
