Some people are truly koo koo bananas, so you just have to let them be
Have you bean peepin' the ebay for cheap Casios? Because they have been heaped up aplenty lately
Also, most of them ship, as a rule ::getthisthingouttahere!::
there was a Rapman for "cheap" last week...I soft bid on a Casio CT6000 and regretted, the last second snipe for a still more than reasonable price Seen a couple fairly nice ones for good prices....and some not so nice ones, at not so nice prices
Every now and then I see something on Ebay that is coming from Japan but has free shipping. This seems insane. Has anyone ordered from one of these listings? Is it legit?

eBay sniping is not what it used to be. I rarely have time to get to the computer at the last second, but my rule is single digits. If you're bidding with 8 seconds to go, that really doesn't leave time for people to bid twice. Their overall lack of traffic, though, usually means you can win with a bid 2 hours before closing, unless it's something coveted (Microcosm, Gen Loss)----in which case there's no reason to bid at all, because you'll be overpaying.

Always check individual feedback. My experiences have been fairly positive. I can't recall any Asian packages getting lost or people trying to renegotiate after a sale. My problem with Japanese sellers is their goddam price-gouging---buying $200 US pedals & jacking them up to $800. Like wtf?!? The pedals are still in production. What are you doing?!?! Some of these people specialize in clothes & shoes---why are they even buying niche guitar pedals?

An American calling out the Japanese for price gouging? That's rich.
To John - Yes, it's probably legit. IME shipping from Japan via ebay has usually been free, or I guess baked into the price. I bought a clean Ibanez DML10 from there for around $100-120? (14,600 Yen according to the slip), that was 5 years ago tho. Things are probably more expensive since then, of course depends what you're looking at. Lately I've just been buying the occasional plushie or furoshiki, not any expensive gear.
fwiw ebay in Japan for quite a while now has existed almost solely for people to sell to international buyers for inflated prices.
buy cheap locally > list for 5x what you paid > eat shipping cost to make it seem like a deal > profit$$$
domestically almost everyone uses mercari, yahoo auctions, paypay flea market etc which are way cheaper.
Cool. What I've noticed is some Japanese brands like Maxon are cheaper from these sellers than anywhere else. It was the free shipping that surprised me since shipping from everywhere else is insane.
99 memory slots that memorise the settings of the board (minus input trims and headphone mix if memory serves) and can flip from mix to mix at a MIDI patch change command. SEQUENCE YOUR MIX!
I'm sadly a few hours outside the zone of reasonable travel on this one.

Agreed.
In the past I have found myself surfing for shit I already own and it has definitely triggered a "what the fuck am I doing?" response. That, and the acceptance that I am probably not going to open a recording studio have taken the bite out of missing a lot of things.
I come from a background in which the consumerist culture has really baked itself into me, and I find myself fighting that more and more as time rolls on.
That said, who wouldn't love a double necked mando-guitar project?
