Been busy the past while in a new improvising electroacoustic duo... my friend has actually been pushing us to rehearse, so we've been spending a bunch of time listening to each other. Does it pay off? I guess I can't say, but I was satisfied with this set from last weekend:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx_I1wiyieU

(contains: drone oscillators, field recordings, lyre, amplified springs, and rather many pedals.)
solo (mostly ambient): https://heraclitusakimbo.bandcamp.com/
duo (electroacoustic vibration exploration): https://wenderlypark.bandcamp.com/
trio (tapes/voice/clarinet/synth/poems): https://ourwaytofall.bandcamp.com/
band (spontaneous kosmische): https://stargoon.bandcamp.com/

I also help co-ordinate Okta, ILF's collaborative community ambient project: https://okta.bandcamp.com

I haven't touched my synths n drum machines for months, but I tried to start a band over the summer, with guitars and shit, and it failed because nobody in their 30s has the time or energy to do that, since the world is burning and everything is terrible. So I just did it myself, and made some songs about how the world is burning and everything is terrible.

Oddly, around half the material I was bringing to this project was from another failed band from over 12 years ago. These riffs are cursed.

The name Dale Nixon seemed fitting, since the band isn't real. You might dig it if you're into Today is the Day, Helmet, and all that old AmRep stuff

I fucking love this! :!!!: I feel you on finding bandmates. The only ones I can find who I can keep something consistent going with live in different cities (and countries) :whateva:

Thank you for listening, I appreciate it.

Same here. My wulfen project originally started as a two-piece, even though we lived 300 miles apart, we would just e-mail each other stuff back and forth until it sort of resembled a song. But then he wasn't able to carry on as he fell into that marriage, kids and career thing I keep hearing about.

Trying to find local people always falls down at the drummer stage. Drummers don't exist. There are none. If your band somehow has a drummer, check that they're not actually two kids in a trench coat.

 so true. I had a thing going with a drummer and guitarist before the pandemic hit, that fell apart quietly after we didn't see each other for two years, that's probably the only drummer I'll ever find here. My trusty samplers are real at least but it's not the same...

This really was a great achievement mainly for two reasons:

#1 I get terribly nervous when I record myself on video, you can't imagine how sweaty my hands were during this shoot but I managed to do it on the first take... of course there are a few mistakes here and there, but nothing really serious.

#2 This is the first time I record image and sound separately (video with my cellphone and audio with the Zoom H4n Pro). I thought that my old laptop was going to suffer with the editing on iMovie but the final result was actually excellent in terms of synchronicity.

This song is called "Pilares de nuestra conciencia" ("Pillars of our conscience"):

Sounds great, nice job! I hate even the simplest video editing, that looked good. :)

I'm still churning them out :thumb:

This is album #48 of 2022, and I'm aiming to get another 20 done before the end of the year to have completed 200 albums uploaded to Bandcamp in 3 years.

https://sonickoalas.bandcamp.com/album/ ... ersational

It sounds like (and is) a lot, but I've got to a point where I can record a 20 min wav file, upload it to my computer, create 6 tracks totaling 40+ mins of music and have it uploaded to Bandcamp all in around an hour, so it's not as if I have to over-exert myself to create them.

For the last couple I've reduced my pedal set up to just seven pedals - Beebo - Zoia - Echosystem - BitQuest (album #47)/Ghost Fax (album #48) - Habit - Mood - Habit and not much has changed  so I probably don't need that many after all ;)

The sounds came from my iPad, on which I've also culled quite a few apps and only use around 8 of them regularly.

I've got a couple of days with no work so I may well make a couple more albums once I've done my Okta 4 track - I've downloaded all the pieces created so far, so tomorrow I'll go through and pick out some things to work with and see what happens :)
