That caught my eye, too. I’d have to play one in person with something approximating my use case to make sure I’m not just in love with the idea of it. And I’d wonder about rolling my own something that’s proximate to less. (Stuff a Charlie pickup in the neck of a Casino?)
the thing is, a proper CC pickup has a humongous metal support/mounting structure that i don't think would even fit in a Casino. you'd need at least a shallower archtop design like my White Falcon which is 2.75" deep (i looked it up). i suspect that the many less cumbersome revisions in the aftermarket don't quite sound the same.

For a mild distraction from doomscrolling:

https://www.muziekhandeloudenaarde.com/ ... kitty-fuzz

Fender Hello Kitty Fuzz is coming later this month. I had seen another retailer's embargoed page come up saying "Embargo - do not list until 11-12-24." Heck of a job on the embargo. Should be $100-ish US. The descriptions that comes up gives ideas but not definitive answers:
Say hello to the vibrant world of Hello Kitty with the Fender® x Hello Kitty® collection, celebrating an iconic collaboration that transcends generations. This collection merges the supercute and colorful aesthetic of Hello Kitty with the road-reliable excellence of Fender gear, delivering unparalleled performance and stylish flair. Rock out with your instrument in playful style and let Hello Kitty join you on your musical journey! A fun-loving fuzz like no other – the Fender x Hello Kitty Fuzz introduces a pop of color and charm to one of the pedal world’s most formative effects. Sporting an opamp based circuit with three simple controls, this pink-clad pedal kicks your guitar into woolly, splattering gain tones with unmistakable character. Use the fuzz knob to cover a wide range of flavors from overdrive-like grit to full on ripping fuzz. Added style points come in the form of a stand-out pink finish, white Fender witch hat knobs, Japanese translated labels and, of course, Hello Kitty herself making an appearance on the front panel. Steal the spotlight with unique tone and make new friends as they peep your pedal board to catch a look at this one-of-a-kind fuzz pedal.
Opamp fuzz isn't too definitive on what's going on but, well, doesn't "woolly, splattering gain tones" sound maybe Big Muff-ish? But doing a Big Muff with Hello Kitty branding seems, uh, I dunno, a little . . . ick? Look, it may just be time to consign that whole genre of Big Muff "gag" to damnatio memoriae. If D.C.'s football team and Cleveland's baseball team can be rebranded, it isn't impossible.

But even giving that, I think I need one. To sit next to the Taylor Swift Signature Fuzz.

If it's a big muff clone in a Hello Kitty enclosure, that is definitely a joke that needs to be retired.

Only way to retire d'Muff name is to replace it with something else entirely. I wish it were up to Mike Matthews, but I dunno if the guy can be bothered at this point (cannae innerfear w/ cigar chompin' appointments). Jaysus H. Puff Pastry Man is probably creasing his jeans for the opportunity, but we all know that any attempt to thwart the OG is just pissin' in th' wind (affix XYZ branded op amp w/ derivative name from yer favorite basement builder rite here).

I remember seeing that vid of Albini splicing a tape edit in real time (would link it, but yanno), which I'd never realize that spare ends of tape were referred to as "gash". By Steve's estimate, the Stones hoarded the stuff during their heyday (I don't suppose Jacknife Lee has like 3 spare ProTools sessions running in the background all the time ('slaved", another term that is probably on the outs, along with the very act of "mastering" itself, if ya wanna be Sastkatchewan 'bout it)), but we all have 2 keep in mind who the audience for these schnomenclatures really is/am/is/are/wuz/could be.

Also, this "industry" is filled with "guys" bein' "dudes" "leanin' in" for "church" and "possibly just playing a show or two for fun" but also that Kmise Boof Burger was only $29 delivered via optimonium Prime and lord knows "chuggin'" and "thuggin'" cannot ever be "mutually exclusive" of a "situationchip" forthwith we're all standing in a "garbage can" reality when "fuzz" would probably tick enuff boxes for our "kids" to "leave" our "gear" alone, but I like being a "parent" with co-dependency "back issues", but that's also why "various gauges" and "light sensitive" adhesive "tape" eggsist so we can "get along" with our "get alongs" b4 it's 2 late.

Not enough coffee to figure out embedding yet, apparently, but I dunno, the Hello Kitty Fuzz isn’t sounding too Muff-ish to me:

Not bad.

Someone posted a shot inside the HKF with the backplate off at TGP. There’s solder pads for a through hole toggle switch that are bridged to a fix setting. My guess is it’s at least the same basics as the Hammertone Fuzz. Might even be populated for the octave circuit—probably not cost effective to differentiate the pick-and-place smd board populating process.

Will go back to listening to Hammertone Fuzz demos.

Software developer Puremagnetik is dropping its first pedal this month. They've made several experimental and ambient toneshapers over the years, that delve into granular realms, spectral delay, and looping, but this will mark its first foray into the hardware space. (I use their delays and loopers every week on piano loops, synths, and drone generators.)

https://puremagnetik.com/products/laps- ... ge-machine

www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkBz0Wa-r8o
Featuring stereo input/output and 3 tracks, LAPS supports up to 20 seconds of recording per track at 24-bit/48kHz resolution.

Two unique modes for sound design and composition:

Replica Mode echoes your recordings back in three mirrored layers, allowing you to explore pitch shifts and loop point changes to create shifting, melodic landscapes and asynchronous textures.

Multiply Mode lets you stack recordings endlessly, each layer seamlessly building upon the last, creating lush, immersive textures without erasing what came before.

Oh man, this dropped today, and I'm super-excited:

Image
The Kastle 2 FX WIZARD is a compact, patchable stereo multi-effects unit that empowers you to explore the limits of sound processing through modulation and modularity. Use simple yet refined stereo effects, or go nuts with modulation and immerse in powerful glitch and sound design heaven. Instead of navigating thru preset effects, you can craft your own unique effects with dynamic behavior using modulation. The FX WIZARD embraces happy accidents, sparking excitement with unexpected and unheard sonic transformations.
9 FX modes
— delay (max time in stereo is 1.15s)
— flanger
— freezer
— panner
— crusher
— slicer
— pitcher
— replayer
— shifter
If this were in pedal form, lotsa folks here would be losing their shit. Effects parameters controllable by customizable LFO (or by other patchable possibilities, like envelope etc.)

I love my l'il Bastl guys and looking forward to getting this, probably as a Boxing Day special with some xmas money.

(And for those in the know, this looks like the prototype for the next-gen bastl minis, with a slightly larger body.)

Do those little tiny patch wires hold up okay?

I've had no trouble, other than worrying about dropping them.

And once I knew what they were called — breadboard cables — I was able to get some extra ones, longer ones to experiment with cross-patching both my bastls.

As a previous owner of a few Bastls, I can account for the breadboard cables being sufficient for those 'lil devices - the only problem I ever had was having enuff ample light to see wtf I was even doing (at this point, I wood knead a magnifying glass on a third hand-type device, a real Brazil-type sitch). Also those breadboard cables are like $8 shipped for 100 or something, so bombs away!

That new device looks like a pretty good middle ground btw their big $500 devices & their cheapies, though I wish the Thymme & Softpop were not so thin on the USA ground front (blame parts sourcing & timing, unfortunately - they are always in stock direct). At least Microgrannys can be had for great prixes these days, rite? Absolutamentelo!

However, if I were to go whole hog euro, it might be easier to go module-heavy with bastl (along with basic doepfers) to build a system, which I believe Dirge did a reel while back :hobbes:

OP-XY / $2300 ;)

Image

An OP-Z, but, yanno, fer th' colorblind riche gauche

Had some sort oeve epiphany when I saw the teaser vid, which I somehow hadn't thot about until I realized they were hommagggineering a vid I saw in German TV in the early 90's. Neue Detsche Welle never gunna diet! :trippy:

Also, if you wanna buy an 8-track groove box for less than $2300, I have multiple eras of silver doorstops that I can point at yer gennarro deflection. Alas, they will not get you laid in Steikzpulhazzen, unfortunately (I'm already on that waiting list), but you will sound just as kewl (just gotta keep thine eyez/your balcony clothed).
