Electro-acoustic noisbox/blackfly help

Post by Confuzzled »

Hey all,

I've been tinkering around with making (or trying to make) noise boxes with piezos using different percussive devices, wood, metal, etc. I recall seeing the gut shot from an electro-faustus blackfly, and there was a resistor wired into the circuit, which usually only consists of a piezo, a pot to control volume, and an output. Does anyone have a screenshot they could share or explain why the resistor is wired into the circuit?

The blackfly had a killswitch too I think? They may have put a resistor across it to prevent a dreadfull POP when activated, in certain situations. The drum thing (very similar) has a .1uf filter cap (from the volume ground to output jack ground).

I tried to check my cloud storage to see if I had any pics of it before mods, but I only found one after I had gone as far as possible to make it a total rat's nest. Maybe it can inspire you to go ham, which is something. Fear not failure. :zen:

I'm more ham handed when it comes to a soldering iron, but I'm trying!! Thank you so much for this! As I was looking through your pics I see the resistor attached to the piezo red wire. I think that's what I saw in the original gut shot.
