who are you seeing?
i thought it would be fun to have a spot to talk about your upcoming concerts, etc. i'm really happy with this year's lineup so far:
3/7 Spirit of the Beehive Black Cat DC
3/18 Alabaster dePlume Black Cat DC
3/30 Michael Rother et al. NYC
4/7 Mogwai 9:30 Club DC
4/13 Explosions In The Sky, múm NYC
4/22 Swervedriver Black Cat DC
5/15 Underworld Brooklyn
6/24 gybe! Union Transfer Philly
7/20 Mekons Union Stage DC
9/11 Supergrass Pier 17 NYC
10/26 Autechre Union Transfer Philly
i'm particularly pleased that i'm not seeing anyone from my heyday (the 70s/80s) because they're all fried other than Graham Nash and Richard Thompson, both of whom i saw last year. well, the Mekons started in 1980, but they're outside of time. my peer group generally is still stuck in their 20s, i.e. the 70s/80s. i do wish that i didn't have to drive to Philly/DC so much, but that's the price you pay for liking stuff that's not hugely successful in America.

Re: who are you seeing?
I'll get to see/work at two nights of my fave local festival coming up, Women From Space ("The Women From Space Festival’s goal is to celebrate and amplify the art of visionary women working in exploratory and experimental musical traditions during International Women’s Day weekend in Toronto.")
There's a bunch of great local folks performing, and the big out-of-town closer is Myra Melford/Ingrid Laubrock/Lesley Mok, plus there are some visiting electronicists I don't know much about (yet).
Dubs: Mekons are always a joy to see! Jon Langford would come to town fairly frequently in various guises, but the whole of the Mekons have only come over the border a couple of times on their North American visits. I did get to see them in a dive in Cleveland once when I was coincidentally there for a weekend football roadtrip, it was a super-memorable show.
On the horizon, I see Robyn Hitchcock just had a couple local nights announced. Ticket price is above my ususal threshold for a gig these days, but I've loved him every time I've seen him and frankly, we're getting to that point where you think "both of us won't be around forever". He's aged gracefully, but it surprises me a bit he's 71 now.

Saw aussie noise-folk(?) Twine a couple weeks ago. Good time.

(apparently that jag in the thumbnail is ex-Drones/TropicalFuckStorm)
HEALTH playing this week, same night as Conan unfortunately, but seen those guys a few times.
Upcoming:
MJ Lenderman
Pallbearer
Chelsea Wolfe
There's a community festival on tomorrow, but I probably won't make it across town after work, there's another carnival takeover of my block next month, might catch a few local bands then.

The only show I have definite plans to see with known artists so far is napalm death and the Melvins in seattle 6/2

Re: who are you seeing?
Great and busy lineup dub! Nice stuff other people are up to too.
I only have Kamasi Washington booked in for things soon, next month (was rescheduled from last year so waited a while). But several other things on the radar that just need confirmed... And a big festival in August of course so that's like a hundred bands.

Re: who are you seeing?
i have two shows that were rescheduled from last year: gybe! canceled most of their tour due to illness and Spirit of the Beehive lost all their gear and personal effects when their van was stolen in Seattle.

I plan on seeing Meshuggah and Carcass in April, never have seen either before. Cannibal Corpse is also on the bill, but I don't have any of their records.
I am also going to see Napalm Death and Melvins. The opener is Titans To Tachyons, who I think is really great. When they drop off the tour, my band will be playing 4 shows with them on their way back to NY.

Saw DIIV last week in SF. Second time seeing them and they ripped. Andrew hurt his foot and was sat in a chair till the last song, saw us moshing for him and said fuck it. Good dude, hope he recovers soon.
Next show for me is April 5th in SF. Poison the Well is the headliner, but I'm going for Glassjaw.
After that, next show I got is My Chemical Romance playing The Black Parade in SF with 100 gecs opening.
Other than that, all the other shows I'm going to are ether small local jawns or my bands shows.

Re: who are you seeing?
i love DIIV. i saw them in Richmond last fall and enjoyed it so much that i went back a few days later and saw them
in Philadelphia.
the Beta Band are back together and touring in the fall. this year is turning into such an embarrassment of riches that i can’t afford tickets to everything that’s on sale. i was gonna get a ticket to Stereolab, but everything’s on hold till the Betas. email list presale tomorrow. i am so stoked…the Betas were one of my favorite bands at the turn of the century, and heck, i was happy that Steve Mason came over last march.

flying to Boston tonight to see The Avengers tomorrow at the Middle East. Probably last "punk" show I'll get to see there.

Re: who are you seeing?
I hardly ever make it out to shows any more, but my wife won some concert tickets from a radio station recently.
So we're seeing Jelly Roll on Saturday, yay? I feel like this is my wife getting revenge for the time I dragged her along to see Wolf Eyes and Black Dice.

We're going to see Motorpsycho with the band as an "advanced training course".
