So, while I was browsing the tube I came across this short: https://youtube.com/shorts/94Z4fPkJCH4? ... -4BQHX53nR
…aaaand it's apperently a thing: https://www.thomann.de/de/mellotron_micro_module.htm
So, if you're like me, you simply love the Mellotron. For me it's not only the classic flutes, three violins and choir sounds, I also absolutely adore the trumpet, mandolin, piano and many more of the sounds in that Resch digital Mellotron family. Now, it's basically a sampler, of course, and there are many great alternatives for iPad etc., so the instruments have pretty insane prices. I maybe get the premium category for the big M4000D with the wooden keys, polyphonic aftertouch and whatnot but the Micro with the simply annoying two octave keybed for a 1000 bucks??? Still, I definitely prefer hardware and here comes the module. Still expensive for what it is but let's say it's acceptable. I think I'm going to get one. What do you say? Yay or nay?

as an old-school (not to mention just plain old) kind of guy i’d lean towards the physical keyboard. i always prefer playing bass to programming it on a keyboard. however, i have no idea how much it resembles an actual Mellotron in terms of action etc.

Re: New Mellotron Module! Yay or Nay?
My Reface CP is soon to be joined by a Reface YC. May not be the ultimate physical manifestation of the drawbar organ thing and I could already do that sort of thing via MIDI from iPad and laptop. But I wanted physical drawbars to tweak to get more into the organ thing in a tangible way. So I’m not one to say no to digital simulation hardware. I’d just make sure the hardware is giving you a useful something in the UI over an app.

I've got Mellotron samples on my Organelle and the combination of idiosyncratic sounds and hardware makes me happy.

I am a terrible keyboardist, so not much point in buying an expensive hardware Mellotron, but I did buy the MTron Pro plug in at one point when it was on sale.
