vintage fender mustang questions

Post by iamthesnow »

seeing as fender's having the price jump it killed my hopes of buying a surf green strat for now...
so my beat to hell mustang is finally going to get some much needed attention. the pickguard is a little warped and i'm curious if i can use any old mustang pickguard. the body is a '67. also, any pickup suggestions and where i should by the parts from would help a lot too!
side note: thanks for your input guys, you always pull through for me! :joy:

yes...any mustang pickguard will work. i'm fairly sure allparts makes one.

what other parts (besides the pickguard) are you looking for?

are the pick ups original?.....what are they NOT doing for you?

i need new saddles, electronics(switches, pots, the works...), pickups, and bridge saddles. there's currently nothing in it now. before i had some cheap single coils i got out of a marshall strat.i have the original pickups but the neck PU was dead when i got it and the bridge PU soon followed. so i'm looking for something to give me the most bang for my buck... curious if i could maybe use something from GFS.

Neat... I have a '67 mustang too.

But unfortunately, I can't answer any of your questions. Even though mine has some non-original items (pickguard, bridge PUP, etc.) all of that was already replaced when I bought it.

Sorry.

no worries.
i saw yours awhile back, it's very gorgeous. i would love to leave mine natural if it didn't have so many dings. what's the serial on yours? maybe ours might be batch siblings! :haha:

Allparts makes all those replacements items but i'd think they are not the only option. pick ups would seem to be your choice...the string spacing is the same as a strat/tele so the options are plenty.
i'd look on ebay for used parts...although some people only like new parts...so whatever you're into.

i've got mustang around here lurking...i love that little guy.
