I attempted reading Jitterbug Perfume twice. I had to put it down both time. For some reason it just didn't grab my attention.
I'm in the process of reading this for my apprenticeship.

I have read it 4 times now. all of Tom Robbins books are great to me. I can understand that they are kind of an acquired taste though.

lately i've been reading nothing but BLOGS BLOGS BLOGS
but within the next week or so i should find out what my summer reading for college is. assuming enough/not too many people signed up, it's going to be related to the topic of "the aesthetics of reproduction." i'm excited.
The majority of us encounter art through reproductions, usually as offset printed photos in books or jpegs on a screen. While this might pose a problem for the painter who labors over the nuanced surface of a canvas, for many artists the motto has been, “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em!” From Pollaiuolo, to pop, to punk, artists have eschewed the original masterpiece for the peculiar aesthetics of the multiple. Through a combination of research and studio projects, readings, lectures, and discussions, we will explore the role of reproduction in challenging traditional categories of high art and low art, the value of the original, and the role of the artist.

Maybe I need to warm up with
Still Life... Just something about
Jitterbug Perfume made me want to throw the book after the King gets marked for death a second time (not the gray hair but the king bean or whatever).
Maybe my attention span is only long enough for Palahniuk.

IMO Robbins is rather repetitive thematically...i found Woodpecker to be best-balanced.
