Menos el Oso para mi. I like to make random fruity (usually alcoholic) beverages and call them a Pachuca Sunrise. It makes a pretty good beverage name :idk:

I haven't heard King of Limbs yet but I loved In Rainbows. I've heard a few people say that King of Limbs was a big step down from In Rainbows.
I make pedals. SHARK TANK

You really do, amazing album, that Planet of Ice! Lucky you, MTB is playing a couple shows in Nashville a few weeks from now.

kbithecrowing wrote:I fee like Planet of Ice focuses more on the sound where Menos focuses more on the writing (lyrically and instrumentally). Both awesome for different reasons.
& I second the notion of the Beer EP being amazing. Great shit.

While on the subject of Minus the Bear, I'm going to throw out a few thoughts:

Dave is most definitely an awesome guitarist, however I have the same admiration for Jake as a guitarist as well. He may not do as many crazy or creative things as Dave, but his tone and style are distinct from Dave's style, more mellow and "jazzy" (if that makes sense), but they compliment each other so well. Props to both of them. & Cory writes amazing bass lines. & Erin doesn't write as many cool drum beats as he used to . Alex is cool haha.

Also, I enjoy OMNI, but I think the album would have been far better if "Excuses" and "The Thief" were replaced with these b-sides:
/rant. Sorry for putting the thread even more off track than it was.

I couldn't agree more (with everything you said) esp Jake being an underrated player. Hard to stand out alongside Dave. Jake'a totally found his niche though and adds immensely to the overall feel of MTB. I love his vocals too, I know a lot of people feel differently, but they're so perfect for that band (some super lame lyrics in OMNI though...)

Back on track with the boards, here's Robert Levin Been's from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, appropriately blacked out.

When was he using Variax? The most recent thing I've seen him playing was tele's before his custom jaguar.

he was using a Tele WITH the Variax system in it. I think it was a Nash tele, but he was using that because it could do a ton of sounds. i think i remember him talking about it on the live from the house of blues dvd.
