thankies bitches...
OK check it…the V was a piece of shite. dude had it for over 3 years and had never used it, i think it was gift from a chick or sumthin. not the best gibson V,even without the hole in it.
sorry this is long......
i took it apart and filled the hole, got the finish nice and smooth…then lit that bitch on fire using lighter fluid. i did it in patches so i could control it and get a workable pattern. the finish was so thick it was easy to control. i removed the "canal" up the neck with steelwool.
(i'm not going to mention how much i sanded on this fukker , as it was a fukload…so just assume i was sanding/buffing in-between all stages)
appied the gold leaf up the neck.
applied the pics. then shot clear over the pics and the back of the neck.
added this primer type base paint with iron particles around the pics and in other patches, then treated with a solution that rusts the iron.
you can get many diff layers and colors of rust going with this stuff. i fukking love it. (i am obsessed with rust though….)
after the rusting, i added more gold leaf on the borders of the rust and again around the pics. i lightly rubbed copper leaf over/into the rust to give it a little sparkle on the peaks.
i clear lacquer'd the entire guitar lightly.
then burned it in 2 more small places on the back, you can't see it but there's patterns scratched into those burns…melted some red crayon on the headstock and rubbed black into those scratched designs. (just to make it stand out)
i took an old "between the act" cigar tin and originally cut it to go over the kahler route instead of filling the hole. but then i liked it better fitted to the bottom of the route with the TOM strung over it. i don't know why but (i think) something about the hole is cool and the tin at the bottom makes it almost reflect that "harp" strum behind the bridge. (if the guitar was mine i would have put a piezo under the tin to catch that shite)
i just smashed a epi humbucker for the neck pickup….aged all the metal.
the electronics were easy. dude wanted single humbucker, no tone and a kill switch.
fully shielded (and it looked great with that copper everywhere), cts pot, switchcraft output, dunlop straplocks. the guitar was all mahogany with mahogany neck, rosewood board with huge frets (quick dress and they were fine).
grover tuners
seymour duncan custom wind…alnico 5 variation, i took sandpaper to the top of the pickup to fuck it up cause i don't dig the way they look anymore…too shiney and shite.
let's see…..i think that's it. i did include a coupon from a russian used clothes store in the control cavity for kicks ...and a half pint makers mark bottle filled with everything i could find around me…the contents of my ash tray, bunch of dirt from different places, spit, a little of my blood (i mean come on?…i had to), cat litter, and yes…some cat shit. (refer to blood).
found an old tassel somewhere to plug it (with help of e tape).
….hello Voodoo V….
……i love doing these....but it takes me awhile. i need to simplify it next time.
