I got to sweet water or zzounds (sweet water support is the best!!!) if they have what I'm looking for other then that its the local GC for those super fast returns

ive only ever ordered liek some cheap mics and mixer from them. seemed fine. ive ordered from music123 which is about the same, zzounds is about the same but sometimes has great 2nds and blem prices and fair priced shipping. sweetwater has the amazing friendly customer service but they only have a specific selection of things

+1 for musiciansfriend and music123.com, I also have had good dealings with american musical supply, which has basically all the same stuff as those two. Amazingly, somehow one is able to find slight differences in stock and/or prices at these stores, so when buying new gear, I am always compelled to check at least two different sources. Usually, though, when I'm looking for gear it's all about ebay just because it's so damn cheap to buy stuff used.

didn't music123 merge with GC/MF some time ago? i seem to remember ordering something from them and getting all the confirmation from MF, and having the stuff ship from a MF warehouse.

I buy my strings from them often, I've returned something once with no problems. I think they're very convenient, and they were the only place that had my 4&1/2' leather bass straps that I wanted.

this is a sad truth. "the friend" is the little guy's biggest enemy.

I have bought some major manufacturer gear when I could get a hot deal (special discount - - - b-stock). Have also bought strings and accessories.

I have never had any issues with them.

Since 2004 I have purchased two guitars, two amps, and a few different pedals from them. One of the guitars was shipped in a locked harshell case (the key inside). Shipping it back and getting that problem fixed was a pain in the ass, but aside from that they were always reliable.

Sometimes I buy picks from them. If I can get 2 things at the same store, I generally do it. They don't carry the strings I like, but if I need a capo, some picks, and a strap... I'll use them. Because god knows my closest local store doesn't have them. >.<

I guess I could stop being lazy and go to the local store that doesn't suck.

Not when the local store has low level deans for $300

The problem with mom and pops is they are forced to carry low level Deans, Squire etc by Fender, Mesa and other's one dealer policy.

Here we have GC and a great pro shop [Chuck Levin's, first store to ever carry PRS guitars ( Paul worked there years ago)] so the mom and pops are out of luck.

Mine does carry nice Hamer, Schecter, Orange and Black heart though, not a lot of stock but they will order any of them for you including Hamer custom shop. their prices are the same as GC's and MF's on line prices so that's a plus.

They are the first to admit that the customer bass is mostly young kids and their parents looking for entry level equipment.

Sadly no boutique pedals .

Accessories n stuff. For my mainstream pedals (EHX, MXR, Boss) I use Music123.com which is now under the Musiciansfriend banner. They've done me no wrong. I've had a need for a return, and it was done promptly and professionally.
