Jazzmaster vs P90's and Bigsby (Shoegaze/Alt.)

Post by Instant Dan »

Been looking at the next guitar for more Shoegaze and alt. rock stuff. Right now, I am using my Burny Supergrade Les Paul but would like to change that. First thought was a Japanese Jazzmaster as that seems to be the standby for those genres yet I feel like everyone uses them and would like to change it up. My second thought was to get a set-neck guitar with P90's and slap a bigsby on it for something different.

What's your view?

You can split the difference and get a Fano JM6 with a bigsby like this one:

They are pretty pricey though...

I'd just play some guitars and see what fits? I don't really think any one guitar is better than another for any genre. Exception of course, Telecasters, which are the best for Music.

Am I the only one that never really bonded with my tele when I had it?

Lol

I can see why the Tele isn't for everyone. It took me a few months to really bond with mine but now it's my favorite guitar. I have ridiculous GAS for a daphne blue Jazzmaster though

I've owned four Telecasters! I luv 'em, but you can find the mim's cheap and sell or trade them far too easily when neat stuff comes up or you need $$$. I'm glad my Sq Affinity Tele is so cheap and now dremeled for a slanted humbucker -cuz it's not trade worthy I can just enjoy it.

Finally bonding with a Tele = :omg:

Needs a new bridge pickup and some CTS pots tho...
