"conspiracy" is a loaded word, evocative of loopy people with tinfoil hats. you don't need a big "conspiracy" to explain this. seeing the photo feature--in the "Entertainment" section of the newspaper which looks to be the equivalent of the free papers you see in major metro areas around the world!--of the people who have been demonstrating for years, including the woman who's been protesting for four years to get her job back, it seems simple. there's likely a Korean cultural meme of people engaging in this kind of quixotic, extended, pointless protest. it probably goes back to some fundamental mythic or actual story from Korean history. the small group of Cort workers who are hanging on are trying to use world media as their sandwich board, and their union, which is left-leaning as most unions are in SK, is using a left-leaning paper in SK and the union structures in the West to try to leverage their message because that's the only resources they have. it's not a "conspiracy."

because it's so entertaining watching them go around in circles, desperately trying to get away with offering up "evidence" from hopelessly biased, obscure sources, even trying to pass off quotes that have already been caught out as being unconfirmed press releases, and then watching as they resort to insult, accusations of trollery, and desperate appeals to close the thread because they have no evidence and cannot argue either with facts or with logic.

it would be foolish to argue that black people have been abused in America in past history (i'm not sure how you'd "historically abuse" someone other than beating them at a reenactment or caning them with a history text) because it's utterly established as fact, documented in literally excruciating detail down to sales records of slave transactions and photographs of lynchings, all held as part of publically accessible collections many of which are available online. the Cort situation, to put it mildly, is not.
