microKORG
So I just bought one of these off of a friend for $230. I had been mildly interested in buying a synth and was kind of leaning toward the alesis micron if I did, but I couldn't pass up such a good deal. So I'm kind of lost right now with all of these knobs and stuff, but it seems like this thing can do a lot. I was just wondering what everyone around here though of the korg...worth holding onto? Any tips on how to navigate what comes off as being a rather daunting interface?

i don't like the MK's teenie keys, but the engine is the same on that's in the MS2000, so you should be able to create some pretty incredible tones with it. have you ever used a synth before?
i just googled up this and at a glance it seems like a pretty good walk thru of the basics: http://www.tweakheadz.com/programmer.html

Yeah, I've never really played a synth before except for the few times I've messed around with one at someone's house. I'm definitely interested in learning how to actually use it. Thanks for the help!

Re: microKORG
i've got an R3, similar, but next edition to the microkorg, they might be the same in these respects, but i'm not positive, the knobs on it change function for every patch, the easiest way to program is with the computer editor, you can assign the knobs to the parameters that you want. i've been digging it so far, but i haven't gotten into the deep editing that will truly test it's capabilities, but with a godin guitar and a axon 50, it's starting to come together.
i do think any editing that you do on the computer has an immediate effect, so it makes it easier to tweak and play with. but once again, i'm not sure if the micro and R3 are the same about that.
