PICKUPS....HELP ME DECIDE

Post by BlindtoFaith »

Hey guys, I have really been wanting to change my pick ups in my SG Standard. I love the 498T's but sometimes feel like they are lifeless. I play Stoner/Doom/Sludge through a Marshall SLP 100 and lots of fuzz. I am mainly looking for a really nice and loud bridge pick up. Not really worried about the neck slot just yet. Any ideas and reviews would be awesome. Thanks!

Hehe I know what you mean. My SG Standard just has a gaping hole where the bridge pickup used to be right now.

I'm not really much help though. I'm throwin a p90 in mine.

I hate the 498T, better luck with the 57 Classic or Pro version in my experience.

I've heard great things about Bare Knuckles though, pricey but badass!

Bare knuckles are very nice but like Schnikes said very expensive..... for under a 100$ go for a used dimarzio super distortion, with alot of gain lower output pickups retain clarity and tone, and the dimarzios excel in that category... I love the gibson iommi pickups because they seem to me to be the best of both worlds, high output and clarity. But their not for everyone, they don't clean up to alot of peoples standards.

I dunno about humbuckers from him but I really dig the p-90s and single coils from this guy in cali named Brian. He handmakes them himself and it takes mad long but they're phenomenal. Lots of options for humbuckers though.

EDIT: Plus they're cheap! :yay:
