opinions on Phantom / Teardrop guitars?

Post by tchen »

I've got the itch for a Phantom or Teardrop. To the point I'm actually considering selling my Ric 330. :idk:
I dont think I'd ever get an actual Vox. I've been checking out Phantom Guitar Works. They seem to make a pretty good replica at a pretty good price. Anyone have any comments? How these guitars sound or play?

Luv that Phantom shape. Missed out on a blue Teisco EV3-T last year. If you like Teisco's, you can find those for $200-$400 used too.

highly recommended... i have a phantom teardrop hollowbody 12 string. i put the his 12 string bigsby on after i got it. it is wayyyyyy awesome, but tuning can be a bit.... challenging, what with a 12 string bigsby and all
i specifically got the guitar to record this song as it was way cheaper than a ric 12. you can see it in this video:

Not a fan of the shape. At all.

They're ok. I wouldn't ever hunt one down. How do they feel anyway? They look so awkward...

They seem like they'd be really uncomfortable. I'd expect lots of neck-dive.
Have you played one?
