Burns guitars - any good with dirt?

You lot seem to think outside the box and I could use some advice from those in the know.

I use a ton of effects (sometimes) with a Blackstar HT5 and have very varied tastes.

At the moment I use an Ibanez S-Classic which has split coils but I'm looking for something cooler to either replace or complement this.

Being in the UK, Burns guitars maybe a good option - something like a Marquee or Bison looks cool and I hear great things + they go quite cheap, but...

... will it sound ok with a load of fuzz/distortion/effects etc? (Burns are closely associated with Hank Marvin

My original plan was to save up to replace my Ibanez with a Jaguar Classic Player Special HH - better plan?

Money is very tight (because I blew it all on pedals) but I could be patient and save for the right thing.

I think this Burns is a beauty.
Been thinking about getting one at some point.
If I remember rightly Graham Coxon (blur) uses a black one of these and he is partial to a bit of fuzz/distortion.

go with burns. they are usually too expensive over here in the states, and not very many pop up to have enough choices either.
that "dream" model is soooooooooo fabulous. i've been wanting to get a burns for a while but it just never seems to line up for me.
so get the burns and if you don't like it, you can trade me for something...i'm sure i can dig something up you'd like.

i could not honestly answer that but i think anything works well with dirt, it's just finding the right combination. i have never used burns pickups either so i don't know how they react.
not many burns users around......one more reason why you should be that guy.

John Dwyer from Thee Oh Sees plays a Burns 12 stringer pretty regularly. Sounds good to me. I've looked at his board once or twice and I think he runs a DBA Fuzz War and a Boss OC-2??? Can't remember exactly. Sweet looking guitars for sure!

I'm liking the looks of this Burns. Reminds me a bit of a stratotone with some Gibson and Fender DNA. I'd like to hear more about these guitars, too. I know Andy Gill of the Gang of Four used a Burns Bison back in the day. I've always thought of his tone as a biting clean to only slightly overdriven sound.....don't think of him with heavy distortion or fuzz.

i have been looking at burns guitars all day because of this thread (and a day off with nothing to do). the new ones are not overly expensive. odd ball stuff for sure.
