dude, unwound G's will snap your neck off. My buddy at GC is an expert at this shit, and he told me if I used heavier than 10s on my guitar, or guitars with a wound third, the neck would shoot clean off.

I bought 11s and he was talking all about how 11s are good for like drop b and shit, and i was like, "bro, i play it in standard" and he almost had a heart attack

he told me that if i did that, my guitar's neck would come straight off. then i told him i played a gibson. then he told me the headstock AND neck would come straight off. I guess I haven't noticed both of those gone from my guitar for like a year...

Anyways....I do stretch my strings. It's like a pet peeve of mine when I put new strings on. my gauges are (from low E to high e) 52, 42, 30, 17, 13, 10. Same as Ernie ball skinny top/heavy bottoms. I do have a tendency to beat my strings really hard when I play, but it's odd that only the G goes out with any sort of noticeable frequency. I don't really wind my strings any fancy way, it's usually wound from the top down. Gonna try a wound third just for shits and gigs. Thanks for all the suggestions, and carry on with this guy at Guitar Center.

Also, he wondered why I'm using such a large amp, considering I only need my cab as a monitor onstage, and everything should be run through the PA.

Once at GC I was looking at a old Ibanez Blazer, [I did buy it] and was trying to look through the burst at the side of the bass to see if it was plywood or not The Dude walks up and starts saying GC dudeesque things... and I say "this look like solid wood or ply to you?" The Dude shrugs and says "I don't know anything about basses man..."
