methinks Gibson is trying to improve their image after that whole "illegal wood" thing. It's basically plastic and paper, it seems...
Hot guitar, though!

Man, for a mahogany guitar with a countertop fretboard, $1500 is a lot of goddamned money.

Yeah, I really wonder what the potential resale value of something like that would be.
I love the hell out of my dumb 333, though.

didn't even notice the fretboard material... but still, its a decent price for a semi hollow body from Gibson... I am having huge painful amounts of GAS for a 335 style guitar
For the record, 333s are badass guitars, and I really like the 335 Studios.

Re: beautiful
I really like the idea of the guitar, it's like a slightly smaller 335 (bigger than the 339), chambered mahogany instead of laminates...
but I just don't know about that fretboard. I'm curious if anyone could tell the difference between real wood and that richlite stuff.

It seems like the only cool guitar Gibson has come out with in a long long long long long time, so I'm curious, but I none of the shops by me have any.
Someone buy it and send it to me

Re: beautiful
i dig the shit out of that!!!!! but i've been jonesin' for a 335, 345, 355 3blahblahanything for several years now.
i think the price is reasonable for gibson...on the surface anyway.
that is, until the voice of reason comes through....
countertop fretboard ....that's going to be the new way to describe this stuff, isn't it?
countertop worked fine for old DanElectros but they weren't 1500 bux.

Gotta save up for a 335 with trapeze and small block inlays then...

Man, I should totally get on my half-assed idea of building a dano from Masonite and a carvin neck-thru blank.

ha, or just look out for the same one I'm looking for...
Gibson is making a satin finish 335 now with '57 Classics (good pickups) that new is around $2300.
the ebony one looks good to me.

I'm figuring in a year or two I'll find one for $1500 or $1600...
Maybe partying will help.

Re: beautiful
57 Classics are the best hum bucker that comes with a stock guitar IMO.
I like the way the satin finishes feel, but the ebony ones are super transparent in person (that picture is weird) and shows way too much of the wood grain IMO. I do love the way the necks feel though
