Since I'm graduating (with an Associates) this August my parents decided to buy me a present, which turns out is going to be a surplus of various electronics supplies so I can try to design a couple pedals. I'm thinking this might be a fantastic deal, being as it is a guitar-pedal-parts oriented store. I've ordered from Smallbear and their 3pdts are $10 per. Anybody have any recommendations on what or where to buy? I'm interested in fuzz and boosts and noise and drone kinds of stuff and I'd just like to have a well-stocked shop just so I won't have to go through the pain of waiting for parts for each project. Thanks
I just bought their capacitor kit (SKU: 1108) so I'm hoping that covers the basics. I also bought some electorlytic caps and a bunch of other parts. We'll see how it goes. I'm just in the basic/beginner stages of DIY stomp box building. Still trying to read schematics and figure out why certain component values were used. It's all sort of mind-numbing. Once I start bread-boarding it should start making more sense! Best of luck to you!
60 bucks would get you all the resistors you need for a LONG time, I'd think. Kinda wish they sold one kit that covered the whole range.... instead of just 4 separate ones. But what's the point of complaining?
That said... if Pedalpartsplus had more parts, they'd be way cheaper than Smallbear...
Well, despite the terrible reviews of futurlec I found, I decided to take my chances and order $55 worth of value packs. I got a ton of resistors, caps, transistors, ICs, sockets, and LEDs. I'll keep you all updated on my experience with them, because I am quite skeptical. The website is mad old-fashioned and apparently their warehouse is located in Thailand. As I am in no rush and maintain infinite amounts of patience, I am sure I will not mind the wait.
I like what I got.. Nice LEDs.. Good packs... Just hate how they don't really tell u about the stuff.. Like why a pack of 10 2n2222 is the same price as one 2n2222
So I ordered like one of every pack from futurlec that they sell ten days ago and it was delivered yesterday. I wasn't home, of course, so I had to pick it up this morning. Fantastic way to buy parts. Quick and cheap
