Yeah Nate's right I've got a Gretsch G5122, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. My pedalboard has a Green Rhino Overdrive MkII, Boss Re-20 Space Echo and a Russian Big Muff (black). I'm trying to get sounds ranging from Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks, to Times New Viking, No Age or Japandroids.
Oh and about the tele it was Deluxe with 2 Wide Range Humbuckers. Well atleast Wide Range-esque. I was told if I wanted something like that I should go for a 72' Deluxe. But is there really a difference?

nah. because, on a different day, i'd say SGs are best.
I hope I'm not hijacking too badly here, but are SGs that durable? Seeing such a thin, sleek, sexy guitar as such makes me worry how the neck stays set in....tell me I'm just a worrying boob. I have to say just the standard G400 epis are pretty hot.
Full guard, P90s... buckets of cum. buckets of disgusting white liquid made in the testes flowing from the vas deferens into buckets.
And to OP, like already mentioned an ASAT would be pretty cool. But considering you have a twangy 24.6" scale guitar, maybe to get variety you could get a meaty 25.5" guitar? Maybe a Hagstrom Super Swede? I dunno.

with the stock pickups, '72 Tele Deluxe is pretty dull. Very blah sounding pickups in 'em. Put in some Novaks or Lollar Regals, and it's a whooole other beast. that said, buying used, you're probably looking at $1000 total to make it a super cool guitar. You can buy a pretty damn cool guit off the shelf for that... I saw a dude selling an AVRI Jag for that much on TGP yesterday...

They have the same headstock problem every Gibson has, but otherwise, yeah, pretty durable. NOTHING is as tough as a Fender, though.
used SG Classic is one of the best deals out there. just change to 500K pots and BOOM! you're rockin'. mine is a keeper.

Yeah dude, I mean, idk you probably can't throw it across the room and kick it like a bunch of 4 year olds at their first soccer game, but they hold up fine. SGs are supah sweet

Never had any issues with mine, even dropped mine once from about 6 feet in the air (come on...i played pop punk at one point in my life).

I have a Tele and an SG and with the Tele it's like I can just leave it leaning up against shit or whatever when I'm drunk and it doesn't matter because it's indestructible. With the SG, you better put that shit back in the case or on a stand or something. It's not just gonna break if you look at it wrong or anything but if it falls the wrong way it's pretty much game over, man.

Down with being friends.
Really, they are the two best guitars on the planet. I'm waiting for all the offset love to turn to teles and SGs. I predict....2-4 years.
