Does anyone do 24.75" --> 25.5" conversion necks?

Post by Gunner Recall »

So the baritone thread got me thinking...
Does anyone do 24.75 --> 25.5 conversion necks?

I know the reverse is a popular option for making a fender scale guitar more gibson-like...
but what about a fender guitar designed to be more gibson-like that you want to be more fender-like?

My toronado is designed as a 24.75" scale, I'd like it to be 25.5"...are there any (affordable) options out there besides moving the bridge?

Is it bad that I wouldn't even notice the inch difference you're talking about?

Well it's not just the actual scale that bugs me (though the toronado is usually detuned quite a bit)...
I was looking for a slicker/harder/denser neck (maybe wenge/ebony) with a fat tele-ish boatneck and a compound radius, and something with a wider nut spacing while I'm at it.

Being very comfortable with Gibson's 24.75" scale, I figured this would be true for me when grabbing a 24" scale Mustang. It feels way different though, not in a bad way, but took some getting used to. My 25.5" Maton definitely feels noticeably different as well.

To answer your question, no, that's not a bad thing. Not caring about scale length is way better than not bonding/adapting to various lengths offered. Scale length can be a dealbreaker for many guitarists I know...

Yeah I've looked into this before and came up with similar leads...just curious if anyone out there has actually done it.
I'll probably hit up warmoth and see what they say, I really like the options they've got.

I guess there's a limited market for people with gibson scale bolt on necks
Pretty much just cyclone/toronado players.
