Guitar Issue. Help?

Post by The Mad Owl »

Hey guys!~

Got myself a reverend Club King 290, and I currently have an issue with it:

My volume pot has stopped working. The signal is not as strong as it used to be, as if the volume is stuck at 50% and doesn't get louder or quieter when I fiddle with the knob.

Suggestions?

I'm most likely going to take it to my local shop where they can look at it. It's never an expensive place and they do great work.

Just thought if there's any DIY'ers here who might know what this is exactly. Thanks!

I'm hoping it's that simple, honestly :)

Could just be the pot shitting out. Either way sounds like something pretty routine. Is the pot "scratchy" at all? when you try to adjust it?

You're going to have to buy a new guitar, it is impossible to fix. Ever.

I'm thinking it's that, too.

It's not scratchy, either. No change in volume at all.

Do you have contact cleaner?

Faderlube works on pots and faders.

You do have a can with all those pedals, don't you?

I mean, don't you? :0

Probably the pot is shot. You can replace it with a similar valued pot.....or you can take the opportunity to mod your guitar...add a push pull pot and wire up a phase reversal switch....add a treble bleed resistor....

If the pot was just scratchy then I would suggest to just clean it, but if there is not change in volume and you are still getting cleanish sounds then it is the pot itself. If it cuts out intermittently or buzzes then it is probably a loose connection.
Open it up and poke your head inside there to find out.
