Telecaster replacement pickups

Post by mordecainyc »

Hey guys - I'm looking to replace the stock pickups in my Classic 50's Tele. I love the way it plays and the stock pu's are fine but could be a lot better, I feel (especially the neck pickup is a bit weak and muffled).

I'm not looking for a super twangy sound, rather a something bit more beefy, but it should still have the essence of the Tele sound.

Any recommendations?

Don Mare!
You'd probably like the Zepotone but check out his site and see.

They're kinda spendy though. JS Moore in Canada also does really good tele pu's, and they're not really expensive.
Good deals done with all these guys

Fender Custom Shop 60's Tele PUs are nice and fat...i forget whether they call them "60s" or "62" or what, but i have them in my Tele and like them a lot. they're also very reasonably priced compared to most aftermarket PUs.

Check out Heavy Air Pickups. I put a set of their Sweetcorn Blunderbuss in my old tele.

Could always go for Lindy Fralin if you want to spend too much money.

Check some Lindy fralin, I don't know for tele pickup but strat pickups and humbuckers are awsome so it's probably the same for tele pickups

Thanks a bunch for the replies, guys! Much appreciated. Will definitely check them all out.

I also read good things about the Harmonic Design Vintage Plus pu's, which are pretty affordable too.

+1 on the Fralins - great stuff....or if you can spend more, do Curtis Novaks - also damn fine!
