one tip - replace the pots with 500k. it'll make this guitar a lot less muddy. pickups are great after a pot switch.
Maybe partying will help.

If that was translucent red instead of white, that would, without question, be first and second album Sabbath.

My guitar player has the standard version (glossy, not faded) and it is his main axe. He says that the neck is what sold him. He has owned/played several SG's and can confirm that gibson QC is all over the map. I'm not sure if the P-90 pickups are different in the faded version, but the tones he gets out of that thing are stunning. Right now Musicians Friend has them in a Worn White finish for $799, unfortunately the 15% Father's Day discount doesn't apply to Gibson but you could call and see if they will cut you a deal.

Me too! It's like a LP Jr. or Special. That Pete Townsend model is a beauty.

i agree completely. Signature guitars usually do nothing for me, but that's an exception.

Theres been a white 60's tribute SG living in my studio for the week (thanks to my roomate recording a band) and i have been playing it through an orange AD30 into an emperor 2x12 and it's fucking killer. I ABed it with my roomates LP Standard (humbuckers) and the tone just blows it out of the water. The neck PU can teeter on muddy low mids, but the bridge pickup has amazing low end and fantastic note separation, yet remains huge and tight, pretty much a dream come true. I found a 09 SG classic with p-90's on craigslist for $589, and i'd really like to know the difference other than the finish and pickguard and knobs. But if it sounds anything like the white 60's tribute, it sounds fucking unreal.

heritage cherry is legitimately one of the ugliest finished though. ugh.

i dig the white.
I've got a fuzzbox and i'm not afraid to use it

I have had an SG classic for four years. I've beaten it quite a bit, super solid. Mine isn't muddy at all, and the P-90s really pack a punch. Only wish the store had the black finish. My band used my SG classic throughout this track: http://soundcloud.com/flowersforoldfrie ... uper-clean Fuzz/OD is mostly Fuck Overdrive.

Oh and it's probably the most comfortable guitar I have, if you like light guitars then it's perfect.

I have had a SG classic for 10 years or so. Recently changed tuners and knobs to look more like my favorite SGs from the 60´s.
Its almost too easy to play if that makes sense. I like to struggle a bit more, makes me play less crap.
