I seriously don't have the time or interest to read through the thread on Harmony-Central.

How many times have I said I doubt the AB-Synth is anything like a Fuzz Factory? I've never played a Fuzz Factory, and never even seen a schematic of it. I'd never compare it to a Fuzz Factory, since I wouldn't even know where to begin! Haha.
Why attack a pedal that I've gone on record saying is most likely nothing like his?

On top of that, I didn't start that thread or poll. :idk:

I'm not upset in the least (at this point, anyway), just more like "huh??"

As far as trademark infringement, like Agreed pointed out, the name AB-Synth came by combining "Algal Bloom Synth" (the Algal Bloom is very often referred to as the AB) and Absinthe.

Hence, the capital AB, the dash, and then the Synth.

I most certainly did not "appropriate someone else's name," wasn't aware of any synth patch or whatever called Absynth when naming the pedal.

i really wanted to try out a fuzz factory and a box of rock
but now, after reading how the zvex owner replied on everything on harmony-central, i'd rather not buy the guy's pedals...

his pedals sound interesting, but his personality is just a complete turn-off... lol

What a wonderful thread. I love the fuzz factory, don't get me wrong. I have in fact played it, and boy, it's a great toy.

Man, that was a whole lot of semantics.

Being a n00b here i wanted to see why everyone was always bashing Vex.

Now i get it.

Mike, i greatly respect your disdain for vex, it was indeed the reason i read that thread. But yeah after his valiant display of semantics i'm not sure i'd like to deal with a dude like that.

You can't tell me his pedals aren't awesome. You can in fact tell me they're at least 150$ overpriced.

To back Vex, he is a business owner and he has every right to rep his pedals, and point out the mathematical error. But honestly, unless those 14 wild years have really gotten to him, he could have done it with a smile and i KNOW it would have gone better.

WOW.

Congrats Tom! AB-Synth topples Fuzz Factory on my GAS list.
I've got a fuzzbox and i'm not afraid to use it

well, you may see me here a bit more than THERE at this point.

Anderton is a hero of mine.....and his last post is on the money. I should not have told Vex to "fuck off' as a moderator.

But you can be DAMN SURE i will tell him to FUCK OFF in person, at NAMM. and if he wants to take it outside, i'll be more than happy to go there with him. he's a complete asshole, has done nothing but disrespect ME and many other forumites, and deserves whatever he gets.

whereas i once just was sad about him, now i am angry. not only did he lose a customer, he gained an ENEMY.

I have a feeling had the thread kept going without Vex interjecting, more people would have given some votes to zvex merely because they are familiar with his pedal and not as many people have or are familiar with the AB-synth. Zvex essentially lost the poll for himself. That said, the video and thread did induce some extra AB-synth gas.

Bobby was right though, fuck him.

here's the truth -- he PMed me via "report this thread" method, and whined to Anderton and Phil that "he had just shipped 900 units of his pedals to GC and MF and Bobby D was gonna hurt his sales". This all really boils down to his OWN fear that he has been passed by.....and since he hasn't really come up with anything cool in years......he's hurting.

truth be told, he's doing more HIMSELF to hurt his sales than anyone else ever could.

that's where the truth is......he's butthurt because his distortron and mastotron STIFFED while other pedals like the Dirty Little Secret by CB and the Ab-Synth by Fuzzhugger have gotten a LOT more attention than his pedals.

he's a prick who has fucked over a LOT of people in this biz, and it's catching up to him.
