My concern is the cost may creep up on them - it's why I think Gibson has been so historically bad on supporting their bleeding edge technology stabs. That and "end of life" of electronic music products is now so short compared to what it used to be that it can be used as an excuse by almost anyone to ignore a legacy item.

I pray MM pulls this off and continues to do cool stuff, I love to see actual attempts at new things in guitar design and options.

It really is a shame that other than the Sustaniac type stuff, the Moog guitar, the Roland synth pickup and related 13 pin madness, and the Variax, there really haven't been many variations on things since the 80s.

Don't get me wrong, I love my GR-55 (with its baby VG99 built in) for the crazytown aspect (and a lot of useful stuff), and wish there were more real crazytown choices but as things go to two year life cycles or less it seems...we're getting fewer real advances.

It's like the Fishman Triple Play thing coming out from the Axon designer, it's a phenominal idea, and then I heard it terminates to MIDI over USB.

And then I wept.

MIDI may suck, butI know I'll be able to operate it and find things that use it without massive effort years from now, same with CV. We really need a new standard or variation on something to come out so there's not just a pile of junk items every few years when drivers aren't available, connectors don't connect, etc.

Part of what makes most instruments cool is how you can use old stuff with new stuff and mix and match to make neat stuff. Not so with the current wonders. Hope MM will prove me wrong, I truly truly do.
