24" scale bass what the fuck kinda strings?
so I'm soon to be the proud owner of a kay/old kraftsman SHORT short scale bass
I was thinking flats might be kinda cool to get that paul mcartney tone
but more to the point do I put regular length strings on it and cut the long ass ends off? would they screw up the neck or anything?

If you want it to be "normal" type thing you'd need REALLY heavy strings... due to the smallness average bass strings sizes will be floppyish so they won't hurt it really...

this isn't mine obviously, but that's basically how it looks
so for the strings not to be all floppy I would need heavy strings? and those won't mess up the neck at all?

I don't think that these guys do flats, but they're great when it comes to odd gauges and weird sets:

They were also really helpful when I had questions about stinging a short-scale up with piccolo strings.

I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

I’d go with flats, I like the sound and the bass probably came with them.
Also every Old Kraftsman I’ve seen had very soft brass frets, flats will help them last longer.
Check just strings

or Strings and beyond.

Due to the tuners being somewhat small and possible dry glue issues I’d stick with 96-98 for the E
MM
