I'm looking for a small bass cabinet, perhaps a 2x10? I have a 2x15, but I'd like something a bit more portable for jamming at other peoples' houses and such. Also I'll be leaving for College this summer and I'd like to keep the head I have, and just get a small cabinet rather than a small combo, for if I find band where I go, I'd like to be able to upgrade fairly easily.
I'd be looking for a 4 ohm cabinet ideally but an 8 ohm would be fine too, probably under $400, I'd like to get something for around $200 ideally, just because I don't know how much time I'll actually be able to play so I don't want to invest in a really nice speaker cabinet that essentially becomes a piece of furniture and is sold at a loss. I'd rather get suggestions for new things, because of availability, but used gear suggestions are welcome too.

I got quoted around $450ish for an Emperor 1x12 bass cab when I was shopping around before I got my Verellen. It'd be easily flippable later too. Aka to me

Aguilar 2x12, 8 ohms, will fit in an old Geo Tracker and sounds very good once you turn the damn crossover off.
paid $250 used for the one I gave my son.

Yah, their stuff is awesome, and I'm in Chicago too so I could pick it up right away. For me though, their aesthetics are too nice for me. I want something i can take all around town and not worry about getting beat up. The Emperor is like a piece of art to me. Which doesn't mean I don't want one, just not now.

I've heard good things of the Avatar 1x12 as well!

The first thing that came to my mind was Avatar as well. I've owned an Avatar 2x10 in the past and it was a great cab for the money. I found it was a little lean when I played on the B-string, but it performed like I would expect for a 2x10 in it's price range. You can usually find them used for pretty cheap.

Thanks guys, Avatar seems pretty awesome. Any other suggestions? I like to consider every option before deciding on one thing, I've also got time to look too.

Re: Bass Cabinets
I got beat to the Avatar suggestion. I use a 4 ohm 2-12 and it is really a good cab.

I'd do either of those too. I'm somewhat interested in the Acoustic bass cabinets, but I dunno.
Thus far it seems that Avatar is the clear choice in terms of buying new.
