Cobalt Slinkys
Try them. Stop being a cheap punk. It sounds so loud and so much more. My cij mustang sounds like I put new pups in. They are so loud and beefed up. It's great. Sounds like I'm rocking p90s. It's great. Do this.

Re: Cobalt Slinkys
Hmm, perhaps I'll try them on my Mustang next time I change strings. Well actually maybe the time after the next time, as I've got a set of strings for it sitting around already.

Re: Cobalt Slinkys
I put a pair of the .12's on my Corsair tonight. I didn't get a chance to play through all my fuzz or very loud, but they definitely sound pretty bold. I love the extra tension even if barring at the 1st fret is a bit more challenging. The 24 non-wound G is kind of weird, but I'll get used to it.

Got em on both my Electrics. Absolutely love em. Kinda surprising too since I've never been an EB fan

Re: Cobalt Slinkys
I wasn't gelling with these strings earlier today. They were too bright and metallic for my taste and the tension was starting to bug me. It just sounded/felt wrong. Since I bought the .12s I figured I'd try tuning to C rather than D, and the strings came alive when I dropped that step.
On the neck humbucker with the tone wide open they still sound metallic but really full. It reminds me of the tone of low piano strings when they're struck hard. Rolling the tone off makes it sound warmer and woody which is what I tend to go for. & with the bridge pickup tapped they sound super chimey and smooth in the high register.
I can see these strings not being for everyone, but I'd definitely recommend giving them a shot if you're looking for something bold/different.

Re: Cobalt Slinkys
I tried a set of these on my Mustang a little while ago, they were good but I honestly didn't notice much in the way of increased output compared to the nickel strings I normally use. And I ended up not liking the feel of them as much, so I've switched back to DR Pure Blues.

Re: Cobalt Slinkys
I love the Cobalts. I remember some dude on Harmony Central saying they rusted or some shit? Which made NO sense at all, then there was a thread of bashing them. I dig the shit out of them though. Fuck those guys.

Re: Cobalt Slinkys
Yeah, people are weird. I remember seeing one review that was bashing them saying they were louder, but they thought they'd be way louder than that...so they are terrible because the reviewer has horrid expectations. They obviously aren't going to be like a SHO boost, but there's a noticeable difference. I have had so many strings rust that weren't this, it's normal if you're sweaty from my experience...
People stupid, buy these strings now!

Re: Cobalt Slinkys
Do they feel anything like Elixer strings? Cause I god damn hate the feel of coated strings.
Someone I know that bullshits a lot said these were awful so i'm considering trying them, especially as he likes dream theater and uses coated strings, both of which suck.
Usually a Stainless Steel user though if that's any help.

Re: Cobalt Slinkys
Feels the same way they always do Scruff. No bullshit. Just play a bit louder. I've had mine on since I posted this and they still sound great. Left my guitar in my car for a week and still sound great. Man...love 'em.
My uncle works for Gore-tec so he'd send me the Elixirs oftern. I've played 'em all and I love 'em because they last long and sound awesome, but couldn't afford 'em if I had to pay, but these I'd pay for definitely. I like the feel of the Elixirs and flatwounds so I've never been mad about it, but these feel like any strings, just a little bit thick. Beef is for dinner.

Re: Cobalt Slinkys
I cannot get on with elixirs, they just make my fingers feel like they're gunna slip about and also in some weird way kinda hurt but not like no callus just, wrong... compared to normal strings.
Flats i'm okay with, well on bass anyway, never tried flat guitars if such a thing exists.
I'll ask or a set for christmas or something.
