I don't know who that is, but I like a good hunt.

Google Image Search with their name, restricting to large images, brought me to this Japanese page, which linked to this huge image, which revealed it is a Gretsch.

Another Google Image Search for vintage Gretsch took me to this page, which reveals that the guitar is likely a...

1979 Gretsch Beast BST-1000

...or thereabouts.

Edit: Wiki page on the guitar.

As a bit of trivia, Gretsch is currently based in my city, Savannah, Georgia. We apparently even have a Gretsch museum :)

Ha ha. Too slow on this one. Yep, it's a Beast. Not one of Gretsch's more popular models.

TK-300 was interesting as well. Definitely not your standard fare Gretsch.

Hard to see, but I think the guitarist is playing one here:

I like those obscure Gretsch.

My favorit is the TK-300.

i hope we can get more gretsch love on this board. they're so versatile despite the fact that they're fairly narrowly marketed

i love TK's !

as long as you don't expect it to sound, feel or appreciate like a real old gretsch, those last gasp models are a hoot.
a friend of mine owns these two ...

Image

i set them up for him, the guitar is a killer.

Image

the bass has that ugly bridge on it and the guitar has a dimarzio problem ( as found ) but ... they were cheap and they're very cheerful.
i mean - what's not to like about this headstock ?

and the bass came standard with a beautiful NOS super'tron pickup.

Image

and they've got the burns 'gearbox' which is always fun.

Image

at around the same time i did this 'PJ' model for another customer ( and we all know what that's capable of right ? )
