The hawk is not what I expected...

Post by hazelwould »

It sounds really unique and textured. Nails these nasty ragged Mount Eerie fuzz sounds I've been try to get. But, I wasn't expecting this from the Hawk. It's got more straight ahead fuzz sounds but damn if this thing isn't awesome and cool/unique in its own way. I can get these "somber" blown out speaker sounds. Very soft and subtle yet still blown out and loud!

What should I have expected from this auteur of fuzz boxes?

Does the Hawk sound ok with a buffer in front of it?

that was something i consciously addressed so it has a buffer in the circuit and will work the same regardless of what's in front of it.

Thanks Bri! Fucking sick of fuzz that sounds rad then shits itself if I have something buffered in front of it.

yeah it's a bummer... all of the vertical TAFMs have an internal buffer as well for this very reason - i left it switchable in them though in case former users didn't love the way it changed the sound (it's subtle, but noticeable).

EDIT:

Bought a Hawk at Prymaxe. (BTW, the NEW15 code still works for some reason) :!!!:
