Do you guys play noise boxes/synths/circuit bent weirdness?
Of course, I can't say anything about future IE releases, but I am very interested in other devices in addition to effects pedals. I wondered how many of you forum-dwellers shared an interest in self-contained electronic music boxes, circuit bent toys, noise makers and synthesizers. Anybody have any they want to show off? Anybody else curious about entering this world?

Cool. I guess I am more interested in people's standalone synth boxes, modulars, and noise makers rather than closed-format keyboards. Besides being an interest of mine, I'm curious whether there's much overlap in the audience for pedals and for crazy sound-generating boxes.

i have a 25u eurorack modular and a 191j roland system 100 rig. not into random noise acts but don't mind at all creating insane walls of drone sometimes.

I use Moogerfoogers now, but I've used Trogotronic oscillators, Music From Outer Space Weird Sound Generators, and other standalone noisemakers for years. I'd love to see an Iron Ether take on a noise box/oscillator!

I occasionally enjoy them, but they really aren't my thing. I'm not real big on bleeps and boops. Bit crushers, ugly face...stuff like that I can dig. Otherwise, it's kind of meh to me. Has to be usable.

I've been doing the circuit bent toy thing for awhile. I'll take some pics or make some demo videos or something.

Re: Do you guys play noise boxes/synths/circuit bent weirdne
I have a 2 oscillator drone synth that I dig, and I keep looking for a Grendel Drone Commander to snag on the cheaps from Ebay/craigslist. A few other novel widgets I'd like to try out are the Critter and Guitari Pocket Piano, the Pianocade (too dorky to resist) the Dewanatron Swarmatron (when I win the lottery) and a Theremin and/or ribbon controller for the synths I already have.
I think you'd make some converts if you put something on the market Taylor but by and large you'd probably be selling to a whole different market, a much smaller one at that (at least I think so?). The Polytope rules with drone synth btw, as does the Xerograph.

Iron Ether modules would be interesting for sure! Are you on Muffwigglers Taylor?

Yep, but only in a personal capacity right now. I've got a little modular shaping up. It does indeed include some modules nobody else has... yet.

Cool. I hang out there a bit. I am very scared to get into modular, strictly for financial reasons...but I do have a few pieces of hardware (Elektron stuff, MiniBrute). My most unique synthy piece of gear is a modded Atari 2600 with SynthCart and everything it needs to make bleeps and bloops.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I used to have Nanoloop for my original grey Gameboy (should try to find it...) and had a lot of fun bleeping and blooping with it. I once even played a show with a bassist, me on Gameboy, a cowbell player, and experimental vocalist, in which we did a kind of chiptune-jazz cover of "Street Beater" by Quincy Jones, a.k.a. the theme from "Sanford and Son".

And, I just realized I can edit people's posts since I'm a mod for this forum... must not use for evil...
As for modulars, one thing that's great from a designer's (read:madman's) perspective is that they love having tons of controls and ins and outs. I could never get away with a pedal with ten outputs but a module like that would not raise an eyebrow. So it's a whole different challenge in designing as compared to pedals.
