Mexi Jazzmaster body

Post by WeHuntKings »

I am planning on buying a Mexican jazzmaster body off with a TOM bridge off of my buddy, and I was wondering about a couple of things.

If I wanted to put a bass vi scaled neck on there, would I have to fux with the bridge and tailpiece placement?

Alo considering putting a jaguar neck on there too and making into a jag master of sorts. Anything other than bolting the neck, or?...

In either of those cases, you would have to move the bridge. However, if you got a baritone conversion neck from Warmoth at 28 5/8" you would not have to move the bridge, and you could probably make that work in a VI tuning.

A friend of mine rocked a Jaguar Baritone Bass Vi Special Custom Limited edition special which was 28" shipped tuned E-e, but it didnt quite hold up. He used it G-g.

I would like for it to be e to e in both cases. Does anyone know an approximate measurement I would need to move the bridge in order to compensate in either situation?

In either case you want equal distance from the saddles to the 12th fret and from the 12th fret to the nut.

For the VI you'd want 15" from the saddles to the 12th and 15" from the 12th to the nut making it a 30" scale.
If you go with the Jag neck it would be 12" from the nut to the 12th already and you'd want the same from the 12th to the saddles making it a 24" scale.
