My original gateway beer. That's the one that got me into liking beer, fo' realz. Haven't had one in a few years, though. Maybe I should pick one up!
But first I need to shake this damned cold. I really hope I can get over it before Friday - we've got a weekend away coming up, and I damned well intend to spend it drinking good beer, damn it!
Love the Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout. It's an old standby. As is the Taddy Porter. Nut Brown isn't too bad either.
Haven't had the porter, I'll have to grab one. I have a bomber of Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout in my fridge; I've never had one and I'm excited to see how it stacks up to the Sam Smith.

I picked up a bomber of New Belgium's "Rampant" Imperial IPA and a 6 pack of Schlafly's American IPA because I don't fuckin feel like tasting anything else this weekend when I get home from work tonight at like 10:30. I am excite.
Well since my Bock had been lagering for about 10 weeks now, I figured I'd finally get it out of the secondary and throw it into a keg. HOLY GODDAMN it is delicious. I cannot wait until this shit is ready to drink.
had Founders' Backwoods Bastard the other night, and as someone who is generally not a fan of bourbon barrel aged beers (they always taste like bad bourbon with half the alcohol) i really liked this.
but theres no fuckin way it was worth the $8.50 the restaurant charged me

it was down in Akron at the Lockview. which is p much like Melt but more low key and with more beer, and most of the grilled cheese sangwiches are fancy and vegetarian

Had some lonely stuff this weekend... Brother Thelonius, Allegash Black, Allegash Trippel, Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout, as well as a few others that escape me at the moment...

I reeeeally wanted to like Brother Thelonius, because I love both the brewery and the guy. But I dunno, didn't do it for me. Really harsh. But mm mmm Allagash Black...

Yes indeedy, Allegash Black can do no wrong. But you thought the Thelonius was harsh? Huh. I've always found it pretty mellow. We must have a beer exchange program sometime, so we can better understand each other's reference points!
