My girlfriend's parents and brother went to Belgium and got to drink Westvleteren 12. Envy is me. But they did bring me and my girlfriend back a couple of cool chalices :thumb:

Honestly, I don't think you're missing out on much. I've had the 8 and 12, and while it was good, it wasn't mind-blowing. I think they got a lot of hype because they are damned near impossible to get, much like Pliny the Younger.

I feel you on the Pliny thing. It's amazing the kind of hype that beer can generate. I mean, it's beer. C'mon. That being said, I would like to try Westy someday, but for now I'm quite satisfied with the much more easily-accessible offerings from Rochefort and St. Bernardus. There are also some American quads that I'm quite fond of.

Or you just go to wherever in Burlington, VT, and drink whatever Hill Farmstead beer they have on tap and start weeping tears of joy.

I had totally forgotten about this thread. Moving to Maryland was the best thing I've ever done for my beer drinking. There's a brewery literally 4 minutes from my house, and pubs as far as the eye can see. I found a little hole in the wall bar that has a 99 bottles of beer club where if you drink 99 beers from their list, you get a plaque on the wall and 20% off for life. I'm 4 beers down already, I think I can get the 99 done in about a year time max.

Currently doing homework and enjoying SN Torpedo. Seriously such a good beer. Super afforable and always tasty. I love Sierra Nevada.

This weekend I had what might be the best beer I've had. 21st Amendment's Brew Free or Die IPA. Wow. Incredibly smooth, crazy delicious.

Wow, I tracked down a bottle of Old Rasputin RIS. Sooo goood. $8.50au a bottle though :(

I've been drinking Holgate Temptress Chocolate Porter recently, it's pretty decent. Shows that Aussie craft is getting there... but there needs to be more Breweries around.
