now that my cousin, with whom i'm staying, may lose his drivers' license due to a January DUI bust he's wanting me to stay here after insisting i leave sooner rather than later because he got in my face screaming and i called the cops on him. see, i may be getting into writing academic papers for money and he thinks i will stay here and help pay his bills if he runs out of money paying attorney bills. i'd consider it if i liked being in Chicago, and if he wasn't such a unbearably boorish asshole at times. i'm really, really tired of hearing him calling people he doesn't like "gay-ass fags." (sorry if the words offend...they offend me, too). i just want to get the fuck out of here and go live in Idaho. i came here because i had nowhere else to go, and in retrospect it was foolishly retrograde to move back to the city i left in 1979. things have changed here so much since then, and not in a good way, that it breaks my heart. they ruined much of what was good about this city, and the glitz of Milennium Park doesn't make up for it.

I just realized I owe like $3,600 in medical bills because of one stupid night.

EDIT: hopefully I can run some of this through my insurance, and get some of those knocked down a peg.

I made one call and being sent another bill which is hopefully much smaller, but there's still the ER charge of $2400. My insurance card says $150 ER copay so I'm really hoping for the best with that. I just didn't get the chance to call about it this afternoon yet.
