Hiking

Post by sylnau »

I went hiking with a friend this morning.

It's my favorite activity (other than music).

Anybody love hiking?

Hiking is pretty sweet, there's a 1000 acre forest right next to where I live. You Canadians have some majestic ass nature. I've been to Ontario, just past the border and that was really beautiful.

I do! One of the best experiences of my whole life was hiking for 5 days in the Himalayas, it was completely amazing. I also enjoy doing it much closer to home.

Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier.
It's a 30 minutes drive from Quebec.

The trail we choosed is called "les loups" which is "wolf" in English.

Oh yeah, hiking is pretty awesome. I don't do it nearly like I used to now that I'm fat and old, but once in a while. I hiked up to a cool waterfall a few weeks ago with the lady. My best hiking trip was spending three or four days backpacking along a really cool trail on Vancouver Island, but that was probably ten years ago.

Yeah, hiking if one of my three biggest passions (along with music and homebrewing). My bandmate JO and I hike all over New England, and we've gone all over the country too. We've expanded our hiking into a goal of reaching the highest point in all 50 states. We're done with 44 of them (Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Montana and Wyoming left). I have some amazeballs pictures from our hikes, and I'm pretty sure I've posted some of them here before.

I live about 10 minutes from the south section of the Great Allegheny Passage (the town is called Ohiopyle). Plus the couple acres near my house. Biking and hiking is something that I used to do all the time and just started getting into again in the past 4-5 months. I plan on taking a short hike down to Cumberland Maryland next month (about 40-50 miles round trip). It's just to ease myself into long-distance shit. My goal is to hike down to DC, then ride a train back once I get my walkin' legs.

Shit man, I need to go hiking again. I've done a few high peaks in the ADK but the last time was over 2 years ago now.

Hiking is like somebody took running and took out all the shitty parts (going fast and not having any intended destination).
