Re: Hiking
Oh yeah, one more, this was on our way to Kings Peak (the highest point in Utah). It's the high peak in the very center of the picture. This green area was actually a huge plateau/meadow at over 10000 feet. It was insanely beautiful, and we ended up camping out here an extra day just because it was so amazing.

Gearwise: not really. Bought all of my Arcteryx stuff later (Look at that shitty Jack Wolfskin jacket from The 90ies).

Re: Hiking
Bigchiefbc I'm so jealous! I was trying to find time to climb King's Peak this summer, but it's just been too busy
If you ever get the chance you should check out some other areas in the Wind Rivers. I've actually been a little disappointed with the pictures I've seen of King's Peak because the other places I've been in that range were much prettier.
The4455 I'm pretty sure I was at the Grand Canyon at the same time as you. We're you there with your dad? I remember we ran into a father and son from Chicago while a group of friends and I were hiking the Grand Canyon.

Where in CT are you? Most of the decent hiking is in the NW corner of the state. I've hiked Mt Frissell (right on the tri-corner between MA, CT and NY) and did a decent length section of the Appalachian Trail that leads up to Bear Mountain. It was a really nice hike.

I have some other pretty cool pictures of Kings if you want to see them. Give me a little while tonight to get them uploaded.
