I love this stuff!

Especially glitchy uncontrollable things plugged into glitchier more uncontrollable things. pedals with bad tracking, noisy chaos modes a la Devi Ever, Mid-fi glitch computer, Skychord Electronics, pedal mods, octave glitching, all that good stuff.

Don't know much about Iron Ether but looks like cool stuff I'd like to try. Whatever it is you're hinting at with this thread sounds enticing...

I have actually been watching your threads on Muff's! Of course I can't reveal anything, but I will say that not only will we be bringing IE to modular, but we might bring some modular stuff back to pedals too.

I love standalone noisemakers!

Used some Montronic synths for noisemaking in the past but now I'm mostly using my Grendel Drone Commander, an old 70's drum machine and my iPad (Dr. OM, AniMoog, Filtatron, DM-1)

Thank you for this post... I checked out the Dr. OM, and what a great sounding little app. I've been wanting a dual osc drone box, and the drones coming out of that app caused me to lose lots of time and battery life. I'd love to have a real world equivelant.

I am still waiting to see if Iron Ether will jump into the modular world…

I got rid of the Euro and went with Banana Plugs. I have a good bit of Modcan A and some COA/Serge panels.

It would be cool to see some IE with 'naners but I imagine if I was a designer of such things I would likely enter the Euro world, fastest moving market around.

As far as modular ideas applied to pedals - In my mind I could see something like a modular but you can stomp on it. It would be really cool if it was bananas because then one thing could modulate several others. Basically the pedalboard would be like a modular case with a PSU built in. You choose your pedals/modules and connect then to the internal PSU and screw them into the Pedalboard. Audio would have to run through at all times but in front of each module is a stomp switch which activates the CV.

I've got several Euro modules in the works, and they're new types of things, not adaptations of any of the IE pedals. But, development is really slow since I have my hands so full with the pedals.

As far as a patchable modular pedal-type thing, I've thought about it at several different times, but I think a bigger company than IE would need to spearhead that for it to work and actually be adopted by people. But I would be happy to consult if they ask me!

Something more feasible might be to make a pedalboard that is just a Eurorack case with integrated power supply and buses, but shaped more like a pedalboard and with stomp switches that can be patched to whatever like you say. Then you have access to the existing huge library of Euro functions, rather than needing a bunch of new modules to be designed. I suspect that there aren't really many people who are looking for this, though.
