Yeah the only difference is, that 18V gives the pedal a cleaner sound with lots of balls. With 9V it sounds a bit dirtier and compressed.

It's like anything, totally depends on your guitar and amp and their settings and your playing style, plus the pedal's settings. If you run the pedal really high gain, very saturated, very clipped, you won't hear a lot of difference at higher voltage as it'll still be fully saturated. It's the same with the eq controls, you have to give the signal some room for change.. room for different frequencies, room for higher headroom... try moderate settings when you do experiments to hear differences between settings, it'll make them more obvious.

Just stumbled over this one. Amazing settings, love the tone to death with my Aqua Puss! Gives me instant Eric Johnson! And I just need to adjust the EQ a bit to get my usual heavy tone. This pedal is so awesome :!!!:

I may have voided my warranty tho :(, here's a photo of the little "mod"

It looks cruel but it works for me :)

And finality back to topic...
Here is my favourite low/mid gain setting. Very dynamic!

Thanks for posting that, just bought another Elements (#88) and it seems to have a grounding issue as well. I'll have to try that when I get the chance. Any idea what size of wire to use for the ground? I can solder enough to make my own cables (and sell them to others, been slacking off on that lately tho) and replace pickups/switches.

Also, is it necessary to wrap it around so it comes in contact with the back plate?

Thanks for picking up another Elements, Jules! You can use any ol' piece of metal for that wire, it can be pretty much any size and anything you have laying around. Most important thing is to really scuff up the side of the box where you put the copper tape, you gotta scratch it right down to bare metal with something, make sure you get the best connection to the box as you can. It's not necessary to contact the back plate with the wire, it'll get grounded by the screws making contact inside their holes. Also, when you solder the wire onto the ground lug of the jack, make sure you don't use too much and end up soldering the jack closed...

If you don't feel like messing with it I'd be happy to ground it properly with a ring terminal, shoot me an email anytime.

Would it work sanding a bit and soldering? I may have a low serial number black elements on the way in :animal:

It's nearly impossible to get solder to stick to aluminum, it takes a lot of heat and maybe a special solder to get a proper connection.. I'll send you a ring terminal if you want to do the best grounding connection, you just have to take the pedal out of the box.. it's not too tough...

Ok! Email me some instructions and what sort of ring I need and I'll pick one up locally.

Sure thing buddy! Here's the kind of ring terminal I use (http://www.digikey.ca/product-detail/en/P14-14R-M/298-10055-ND/450110). Whatcha do is scuff up the metal inside the box around all the holes, especially around the clip toggle, then put that ring terminal with a wire under the clip toggle switch. Then you run that wire to the lower lug of the stomper and voila, grounded enclosure.

this is the sound I go for with my Elements :idk:

the riffs are improvised, the guitar is my Jazzmaster... the amp was not THAT quiet, i was just hitting the strings extremely hard and I was close to the camera mic as well
