John wrote:I have never heard of a relationship that was strengthened by marriage. Yes, people can become closer and bonds can become stronger over time, and with commitment, but those things happen on their own, with no binding contract necessary.

I don't think all married people are unhappy, and I don't think that the act itself ruins relationships. It's the desire to get hitched itself, that is the poison.

Agreed. That's the stance I've taken most of my life. A contract creates an obligation, and for me, obligation makes me want to do things less. There's just a little part of me that likes to speak really loudly when I find someone I think is absolutely fantastic, which is really really rare. This last relationship lasted a whopping three and a half months and it was the longest, best thing I've had in like four years. I'm just trying to keep my head up and trying not to feel like finding another person is a lost cause.

All my gear sounds like shit today.
Come Monday, I might not have a job.
I just ran out of sugar cookies.

THE HORROR.

Dammit, every time I put the ashtray outside my window, I stand up, and hit the back of my head on an outstanding nail.

And I don't mean it's a great nail, either...

Waiting at the gate to fly back to Eugene after having been in Utah for three weeks. It's been nice, but I'm way sad about leaving everyone behind; and I'm dropping down to the master's program, and I feel all kinds of shame, guilt, and sadness about stepping down, but there's no way I can make it in the Ph'd program

This also means I'll be a bit ostracized from the first-year Ph'd cohort, so I'll have more time and fewer friends in Eugene.... However, since I'm leaving Utah this does mean I can drink again. So that's something I guess :idk:

Knowing your limits is nothing to be ashamed about. Consider how many average jagoffs don't have Masters degrees. And who the fuck knows, once you get that, you can get a Ph.D. It don't matter none, homie. Just keep it up.

Huehue.

Damn, I need to renew my parking permit for the year but I can't think of my license plate number off the top of my head. Bleh. It's too cold (rather I'm too lazy) to walk around the block to figure out what the two digits I cant think of are.

It's my ex girlfirend's birthday today and I can't decide if I should send a message or text or something :idk: :(

We said that we both hoped we could still be friends when we split, so I feel like I should say something, but I feel like I'm going to get all emotional and shit if I say anything to her this soon.....

how long has it been since you split up? I'd say just a brief, 'hey, happy birthday' would be best - short and concise, right?
