Just a thought, why don't you drummy's ask t-dalt if he'd make a subforum for drums here. Seems like there is a need. He did it for the DR and then he did it again for Nic so I bet he'd be willing to entertain the idea.

They can and have, but I think the issue for drummers from what I've heard them saying is that there are no good places on the internet for drummers to talk shop that are not trying to sell them something or is restrictive or won't let them talk about any brand of drums or gear. Aaron and Ryder are the two drummers I jam with and they both were going on about that last night. I think having a url with ILOVEDRUMS in it would send the message of "you are welcome here" ILF is pretty freewheeling and its that attitude that they were both saying drummers miss out on.

I think mine is still Deftones. Mastodon have gone down quite a few spots, as have Placebo, but I'm still hanging on to that side of myself. Interpol, Sage Francis, Eels, Biffy Clyro, Dillinger Escape Plan, Neurosis, they're all climbing and climbing every year. YOB and Whores. are climbing that list quick as well.

Nope. All my basses have been P or J. Is the SG the one with Mudbuckers? The jag had humbuckers and sounded pretty nice, but I dunno how it will be with my board.

family trees is probably easier for me -- the Sleep/Om/High On Fire crew, probably. The Hydra Head + ISIS discography. The Floyd or The Allmans (At Filmore East?), maybe? The Man's Ruin bands? The SST bands? The whole Palm Desert scene (Kyuss et. al)? Fairport Convention? The Band?

I like loud guitars and quiet guitars and bands without guitars and solo acts...so... no?

I think if it wasn't for Deftones I probably wouldn't have an indisputable #1. But as a desert island record, if I was pushed it MIGHT be Sage Francis' Li(f)e. To be honest, a desert island record is harder for me to choose. Family trees works for me in video games, but I couldn't pin down a collaborative selection of bands. However, the Cult Of Luna/Neurosis/Rosetta/ISIS/Minsk 'Post-Metal' thing is probably a family tree I could subscribe to.

I'm an Aesop Rock fan, yeah. Labor Days is an absolute legend of an album. It was really important for guys like Sage Francis and Eyedea, as it helped paved the way for underground white rappers and MC's to come forward with poetic lyrics rather than 'Harlem gangsta' rap that a lot of people outside that community just couldn't get to grips since it wasn't the life they led. I know that's what it's been like for me. Sage Francis, Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Scroobius Pip, they all rap about stuff that I understand, to a relative degree, and can attribute my own life to—again, relatively. I also love Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch, Nas, The Roots (oh man, The Roots are absolutely amazing), P.O.S., Immortal Technique, Kanye West, CunninLynguists, all these black rappers that have a groove that the others mentioned above just don't have.

Pink Floyd are an old favourite of mine, as well as Neil Young, that I still listen to regularly.

Desert island record? Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me by the Cure. Disintegration frequently gets tagged "best" but KMx3 is a more listenable, well rounded record.

I like fender guitars. I get down on fenders for the heavies. That said, I immediately assume a band is about to play dad rock or lawyer blues when I see a strat onstage. I hate strats for no justifiable or logical reason.

What about PRS's. They sound and play great but I wouldn't bring one to my first try-out with a new band, maybe not the strat either.

I mean, I'm not a huge PRS fan, so....

All the Russian Circles stuff is great in my opinion. It all has something a little bit different but their latest album really is killer. One of my top bands. I am kinda a "post-metal" junkie though with most of the bands I listen to the most being part of that world.

Pelican I have sorta left behind as well. I still pick up their new stuff but Fire in Our Throats is still the best they have put out. Unfortunately they do not look like they will ever go back to that stuff. Ever since City of Echoes they have focused more on writing riffs than the atmospherics. I can appreciate the riffs but I really liked the build up of Fire. Their first two albums are cool too and are certainly more slow doom/sludge then atmospheric.

Red Sparrowes I haven't listened to in a while but back in college they were in the rotation a lot.

Also been listening to Enemy of the Sun. It's one from the Neurosis catalogue I hadn't got round to. It's pretty gnarly and mean. Quite abrasive.

That is actually my favorite album by them, Raze the Stray for me hits my emotional home. Fucking intense but sorrowful, with a bit of vengeance thrown in. and Cleanse?!?!?!?! MOTHER FUCKING CLEANSE!!!!! Any and all tribal music being infused into metal started and ended there, period.

My thoughts exactly. Although Through Silver In Blood is right up there with it to me. So close I can't decide which one is my favorite.

So I play drums in Infinite Flux with John and Tony. I used to post a little on TB doom room.

I am not do patiently waiting to take delivery if my newly ordered Ludwig Classic Maple kit in Bonham sizes minus the 18" floor tom. It should be awesome.

Not a bad idea, but honestly for as long as I've been playing drums which is 12 years and for all the years it was all I ever exclusively played neglecting guitar and bass which is was at least 7 of those years... I've never really wanted to talk drum gear... esp with other drummers cause I was more interested in someone's skill behind the kit than what they were bashing on. You can make a great sounding kit out of cheap gear if you know how to pad and tune them, so when someone would go on and on about some 10grand kit they want I kinda just glaze over cause I can think of thousands of other things I would get with that instead with keeping my current kit and maybe getting some new cymbals... and nothing special with cymbals... just more and new ones.
