So a new friend of mine gave me a 94 revision G Crybaby wah pedal last night for free, his wife and mine went out for a bit so I delved in and modded it before ever plugging it in. I made it true bypass and removed the buffer, and it worked on the first try! Sounds aight, like a crybaby should. But for free I ain't complaining! :yay:

I finally just put up an ad on the SF bay area craigslist, looking for a band to join. After getting flaked on a dozen times by drummers, I'm burnt out trying to start my own band...again. It's kind of a pain to drive to the south bay area for practice, but better than never playing music live. Which is what I've been doing a lot.

Skip, I gifted my old Crybaby to a friend of mine when he got way into building and modding pedals. He did a couple simple mods to it and it sounded way better than it ever did when I had it. I've got a RMC Wheels of Fire wah now...that I've used on maybe one demo track in the last 6 years or something.

Thats awesome! I'm probably gonna do a few more mods to it but I gotta order some parts. The mods I did were simple and required nothing than a dpdt switch which I had sitting around in a dead project pedal. I will eventually install an LED and probably do the extended frequency range mod. But not much more, I kinda want the typical crybaby sound, just not the tone loss.

Man, if I lived in the Bay Area I'd totally be down to start a band with you, Corey. Maybe someday...

For fans of Bongzilla, this is half of them (Mike and Magma). It is also abridged.

Thanks Tony, if only I was closer to where all the cool people are lol. I'm always available for internet recording collaborations.

A guy hit me up already from the ad, asking if I'd be down to do a Man Is The Bastard inspired dual bass band. I don't know how serious he is or if he has a drummer, but I like that style and wouldn't mind beefing it up a bit to a slightly heavier style, so I responded.

Is this newish? The last I ever heard about Aquilonian was when Bongzilla went on Hiatus and Mike started posting about this band forming and just had one live demo track. That was back when Myspace was still the main thing, I just assumed it withered on the vine or something. I'm not great about keeping up on new stuff though, admittedly.

Probably the tail end of 'newish' -- its from the 2010 split with Sollubi. Definitely dig it more than their Myspace demo-y thing. Got a physical copy coming to me in the mail sometime next week. Excited. The Sollubi cut is on youtube in full, and its rad as hell, too.

Also, the new Blood Farmers record came out. Been jamming that one a lot.

You should definitely do that and let us all hear it because Man Is The Bastard is rad.

Unrelated, what do you guys stack for dirt? I'm currently running a supercollider, an FZ2, and sometimes an HM2, but they're all too muddy when playing fast. I have an HBE Hematota and an OCD that I've been considering tossing back on the board, but playing bass in drop f means that some pedals just won't work right. Suggestions?

When I need to tighten stuff up I use my Sparkle Motion, a slight treble boost can help tighten things up without completely changing your sound.

Treble boost is not a bad idea at all

Found your problem right there champ.

More helpfully, I put a singing tree in front of my Supercollider, which sits behind the PDF-1. Deep, clear, bass for days.
