Sounds like the company is doing itself a disservice by hiring a lower ranked/performing person to do a vital role. I at least hope there is a quality control department to validate his work before it goes out. Good luck.

Dude, you need to have a very explicit and specific convo with him about his position and duties.
Pulling rank sucks, but you won't get him to gel with the team and contribute if he thinks he can get away with that shit.
I imagine your boss has your back, so just make sure you check his work and ride his arse when he fucks up.
And catch him doing good things, try to encourage him as well. I might help him to learn boundaries in your workplace, as he clearly lacks a concept of them at this point.
His arrogance is more than likely a front for insecurity.

Well, it was initially a 2 man business - i've had to learn everything from the deep end of the pool. He's there to help us out with the medial tasks, like cleaning and assisting us out with our jobs. Even before he joined, triple checking everything at every stage of the process has always been our protocol. He isn't been responsible for any of the important aspects of the business, so there hasn't been any mistakes. It's just any new business change requires some time to get used to.
Oh well. It'll work out.

It is hot and humid and my right hand is a claw thanks to gout. It pulses and aches.

That sucks man, I had a flare up in my ankle when I had a long weekend off of work scheduled. No plans for me that entire 4 days.

Same.
Dunno how I'm gonna save up any money unless I get another job, and I can't work two jobs where one's overnight...I can't get used to this sleeping schedule.
Also I'm starting to have pain in my root canal'd and crowned tooth with every heartbeat.
Ffffffffffffffff
Yeah, I figure I'll just end up being in a ton of debt. I'd rather owe a lot of money, though rather than keep wishing I had gotten a bachelors.
I still work graveyard, and wouldn't want to do it any other way. That schedule was also super convenient for me when I was getting my AAS. FWIW I only sleep about 5 hours a day so when it's time to go to sleep, I'm effing tired. May or may not work for you.

summertime struck Charlottesville with full force today, 96º and 70% humidity. i've seen worse, but it was disheartening. i'm all "please, God, don't do that any more. or here's one more reason to kill me now, OK?"

Man, I wish I could get by on 5 hours. I need at least 8 or I become the most negative fucker on Earth, but even with that much sleep I still feel beat all the time.
Before, I could stay up until 3 or 4 AM no problem, but something about working through that time period and going to bed at 7 or 8 just isn't happening for me.

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
My workplace introduced some new policies about social media today.
It won't effect me, as this is the only online profile I have and I maintain (mostly) a fair amount of anonymity here, but it was basically my boss stipulating that people had better not bitch the company out on facespace or twitter.
I mean, it would be common sense for most people anyway, but they seemed to vaguely imply (through the wording I read anyway) that employees couldn't, for instance, put photos of their drunk ass weekend up if it was going to show up in the work feed (which I understand you can block anyway), which I think is kind of a reach.
Again, you'd be dumb if you let that happen, but it sort of seemed as though they were trying to extend their evil powers even further into employee lives.
Plus I don't agree with limiting free speech in any way, shape or form.
A workplace shouldn't have the right to dismiss someone because they had a whine about work. It's unprofessional, but I would think management should be able to see that as a sign of disgruntlement that needs to be sorted out in person. If you can't approach your boss about that shit then its because they've created a work environment that makes people feel oppressed. Clearly, "my door is open" doesn't mean shit.
Clearly, there's defamation to consider, but trawling employees facebook accounts (using other employees who have "friend" status as moles) is a stretch.
This is why I don't have an online presence outside of you awesome peeps.
Sorry. End rant.

When I was doing sensitive records work for the gubberment I had my social media (and general online presence) checked and monitored by the Department of Defense. It was pretty creepy.

That would be.
I work for a tiny, not for profit, human services organisation, though. So I find it a bit ridiculous.

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
I need to find a way out of my current job, but my only other "skill set" is artistic. It was suggested to me to learn the tech-side of the art field (photoshop, etc) so I can try and get into some kind of design field. That would be good and all, but I don't exactly have a spare $1000 lying around to spend on software.
I also am going to be putting my art up in a local coffee shop in August, but have to buy frames for all my art, as well as make some prints.
SO. POOR.
I remember when I was applying to get the place I live in, they look for your income to be at least three times the amount of rent. I just barely made it. It made me think how fucked up it is that a 30-year old with a solid, decent-paying job (supposedly) might have had to go to his parents for a cosigner.
