Generally speaking every USA Hoppy Ale that I have (which is a large amount) still tastes great and don't have any problems with it, maybe it's just because 90minute have been so hyped up for me. I still like it, but i'd give it like an 85/100 rather than the 95 it gets on BA - it's still a good beer, I honestly had a lot better experiences with the 60 minute by a long shot. Is it mostly popular because it's everyone's first real Craft Beer?

I've put another Beer order in and i'll be getting another one in a few days, so I'll see if I get another good one. I've only had about 5 of them total at different occasions. So yeah. :idk:

I bet you do have access to some tasty brews because of that. Fresh hop ales are pretty delicious.

The 90 minute does get a ton of hype, mostly because Dogfish Head is really well respected. It wouldn't surprise me if some of that is because the first really good IPA some folks are introduced to is the 60 or 90 minute.

Yeah I guess there is a nostalgia to 90 Minute for me since it was a sort of a gateway DIPA available a lot of places. Well-crafted but with a billion good DIPAs on the market now it's not super distinctive. Starting in on craft beer about six years ago it was game changing though.

I just re-discovered a 12-pack of a beer in my basement that I thought was long gone!!!!!!

This is a homebrewed Flanders Red Ale that has been sitting for a few years now, and MAN it is fucking delicious. It's a sour brew that sat in the secondary fermenter for about 18 months with french oak chips and it has a really distinctive red-wine thing going on now. I can't believe I had another 12-pack just sitting there; I had no idea.

It was definitely the most ambitious homebrew I ever tried. The whole time through the process, I was totally convinced that it was going to be an undrinkable swill. That first time we cracked open the secondary and I gave it a hesitant sniff, I was floored. It sounds ridiculous that you can dump beer into a carboy with a bacterial strain and seal it up for a year and a half, and then it comes out fucking delicious. The only shitty part about brewing the sour beers like flanders and lambics and such is that they just take sooooo damned long to be ready. You kinda need to force yourself to just forget about them for a while.

That is AWESOME. One of Nashville's breweries just did a release of a Flanders and it was frickin delicious.

Also had a ton of stuff yesterday including a couple Hill Farmstead beers (a saison and barrel-aged porter) and then had a homebrewed Gose at my friend's place oh my god

The only sour beer I had this weekend was a half-assed Berliner Wiesse and it obviously did not scratch my itch at all.

Berliner Weisse can been great when it's done well. But ... dear god, it makes me want to kill everyone when they pour syrups and other sweet shit in there. There's one bar that usually has a Berliner on tap and they always try to push that shitty syrup on you. I just give them a look like they asked if I wanted them to sacrifice a baby for me.

I had my first Berliner Weisse in Berlin. If you can do it right with the syrup, they did it. But after that, I've never looked back from just sipping on a plain ol' tart crisp refreshing Weisse with nothin' in it. Shit got too sweet for me after one.

Which one? I've had a few really great ones and then a lot that just taste like burnt hops

Hey, any guys got any recommendations for beer bars, bottle shops, taprooms, etc. in Cambridge, MA? My sister lives there and we're going to Boston in a few weeks before heading out to Provincetown on vacation and my sis and I are going to definitely hit up Cambridge Brewing Co (within walking distance of her apartment!) but wanted to see if there's any recommendations where we can stock up before heading out to Ptown. I imagine we're primarily going to load up on something like Founders All Day but want some local/New England stuff too. Definitely on the hunt for some Maine Beer Co stuff, too. Also anyone who's been to Ptown if you have a recommendation of places to get beer there would be wonderful.

21st Amendment Black IPA.

I'm a little out of touch with the Cambridge beer scene, but I never thought CBC was ever really all that great. It was just always OK. Hopefully they've stepped up their game. Bukowski's in Inman Sq. usually has some nice stuff on draught. Whole Foods used to have a good selection of beer for your take away needs, I'm sure they still do. I'm also sure other people will have better recommendations than mine.

Agreed that Bukowskis is the place to go in Cambridge for draught.

As for local bottles to catch, I'm not big on CBC. Pretty Things brews are made just across the city line in Somerville, and they're usually very good.
