That looks pretty damned slick man.

SWEET LOOKING BASS man! I have always felt that the Carvin head stocks look mean. I dig it. How long did that take from order to arrival? I didn't know they offer fret material options. Do the SS frets feel/sound any different? or is it more of a durability/wear and tear thing?

that's the most terrible thing I've read.

They do use that headstock for guitars. I think it's called the "classic" or something like that. I didn't get it on my Carvin guitar, because it just didn't quite fit on the aesthetic, but I'm planning on getting one of their Strat style guitars with rail pickups eventually and I'd probably get that headstock on that one.

It took just slightly longer than 2 months from order to delivery. About 2 months and a week I think. The stainless steel frets don't feel or sound any different to me, I just get them purely for durability. Got them on my Carvin Bolt Plus guitar as well.

It's the passive only version. I had an SB4000 with the active/passive option for about 4 years, but I sold it to get this. That was a really great bass, I started using it only in passive and slowly got into using the active circuit most of the time. I just really prefer P basses, but they didn't have this model at that time. So I had plans on getting one as soon as they announced it. I was going to keep the SB4000, but my gear fund got drained for important bills and I knew I would use this a lot more. I wish I could play it all weekend, but I have to work a stupid home show booth today and tomorrow all day. I'm taking Monday off though, so I'm going to sit down with it and make a bunch of demo recordings. Then I'll see if I want to change out the pickup and strings. I mean, it's a P bass, it pretty much gets in the ball park of what I like and I can close any gap by changing to my favorite pickup and string type (in my experience, with every other P bass I've owned). As far as feel and playability goes, I already love it.

Saw Pallbearer last night. I got there late because I was working at a football game so I missed Tombs, but even my non-metal-leaning friends liked them. And one of my friends kept asking Mike Hill for Savage Gold Coffee, which he happened to be selling last night. I got there just in time for Pallbearer's set. They played for an hour and a half, including a two song encore (so, y'know... almost 30 minutes).

The band overall sounded so good, and Brett's become a more powerful singer, which is saying something. He sounded much more confident. Some of the vocal harmonies on the new album are challenging so they sounded a little dicey at points but overall sounded great.

This is a quick and dirty video of the Holy Mountain with the gain maxed and the treble at 0.
Proper clips this coming week but this is plugged straight into my AOR which is set relatively clean.
Sounds HUGE and I shook so much stuff off of my shelves today.

Dude that does sound killer.

Yesterday was a big day for us. We found a new drummer!!! The best part is, he did his homework and learned most of the material beforehand so he came in knowing about 90% of the material. So we're only 1-2 practices away from being gig ready. And that's really more for Robby and I because we haven't been consistently practicing. We played the Ep through twice and if you didn't know, you wouldn't have guessed the parts he didn't know. It doesn't get better then that.

Going to Neurosis, Sub Rosa, and In The Company of Serpents tonight. Should be a great show.

So I've got another V30's only cab in my sights. God help my poor eardrums.

At least if they're too much I can trade 'em off or sell them pretty easily.

Holy shit there's been way to much awesome shit going on. You guys are killing it as usual. Especially stoked about the Warlocks album continuing to sell. Killer album all the way through. I know there is a lot of great stuff out there that for whatever reason, doesn't get listened to and ends up in storage in "that box of my old bands shit" The AW album deserves to get listened to.

And jesus that Holy mountain pedal. You really killed the visual on that and it sounds great as well.

The other 8 billion things that are radness, keep it up gents. Nice to come in here after a few days away and see more cool shit than I can track.

The second band I am playing with finally settled on a name.

Terrasone

I'm cool with it. trying to name something with a unique word is damn near impossible without resorting to jibberish in this day and age. Add a picky band member or two to that equation and it becomes an exercise in futility.
