Guy raised his price and I'm not all that interested in Satch tones because I don't play the wankery. I know you can cop some XXX tones out of it which would've made it an okay for different tones in a recording situation but I'm not really sold on it.

Hey y'all, reviving this thread for more amp suggestions. My bassist wants to run a two amp setup and we're looking for something cheap probably solid state with a heavy clean tone to push a 2x15. Was thinking something Peavey or maybe Acoustic. Ideas?

SLK, how do you feel the Orange CR120 compares to a Sunn Beta?

Peavey Firebass 700 or Mark series, Acoustic, Sunn, or depending on your definition of clean, a poweramp and a sansamp/vt bass preamp/whatever preamp

can't honestly compare them. I don't own a beta nor played one. So I have nothing I can honestly say about them.

Oh, sorry, I thought you had both. What about with the Concert, then?

hahah understandable I do have a slew of amps and a decent chunk of them being sunn's. I plan to correct the lack of a beta this year.

kinda similar in crunch. the orange is still a bit warmer than the Sunn. but the concert has far more volume on tap to blast it out. it's hard to pick a clear winner but if could only have one I'd probably go for the concert lead. the red face on obviously. the silver don't have enough gain by any means.

but it's a sliver that the sunn wins out cause I really do enjoy that orange.

I might even do a shoot out between the two since I have them both immediately on tap to blast.

There's a CR120 nearby that I've been thinking of grabbing to run in a two amp setup with a Beta actually.

A video shootout? That would be awesome. Thanks for your input, bro.
